“Okay....I always read any negative reviews for hotels we book in order to get an overall view, & so many negative reviews are based on one-off experiences that may be unlikely to occur with anyone else....& such might be our case. So take this review with that in mind. First....the hotel is outside of Akureyri, but if you're looking at this you already know that. And it's less than ten minutes to drive, so it's fine. But the location is picturesque & very quiet, which was fantastic. Now...we stayed here in the 'off-season' so there was no staff there when we arrived & we couldn't find that they'd emailed us a PIN to enter the property (which may be the fault of the Bookings site rather than the hotel, we don't know). So it took a phone call to enter the property...& because it was the off-season (& as Australians we didn't really think this part through) the bar wasn't open for operation, & I was REALLY looking forward to having a beer whist gazing out at the amazing landscape. Sadly, that didn't happen...but that's not really the hotel's fault, just something to be aware of. Then we needed a PIN for our room, which also wasn't supplied in advance, so we had to call the proprietors & the girl on the phone wasn't totally sure how to use the room's PIN pad, so it took a bit of time to get into our room. And then our room was, surprisingly, very hot. Too hot, far too hot to sleep, believe it or not. I even went around the unoccupied bar area & turned down all the heating in an attempt to cool things down (the heater in our room wasn't on) but it didn't seem to have any affect. We called the proprietors again (no staff were onsite at all) & they were admittedly very helpful & apologetic. The manager (I think...?) came out personally to help us & he was very friendly, doing what he could for us.”
“The room was excellent but the common areas upstairs were brilliant. Very well equiped kitchen. Big well appointed dining room, cosy nooks. Tastefully decorated and lovel outlook.”
“Location was excellent with great views across the fjord. Able to walk down to the fjord shoreline from the hotel. The viewing tower also provided great views of the surrounding area. (Weather was good). Facilities for recreation were good. Food choice at breakfast was good. WiFi signal was good.”
“It is an awesome and cozy place, beautifully arranged by the friendly hosts. The guesthouse, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, gives the impression of being immersed in Icelandic nature, even while having breakfast inside.”

How does it work?
1
It starts with a booking
It starts with a booking
The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
Followed by a trip
Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.
3
And finally, a review
And finally, a review
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
