Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe meals I ordered for lunch and dinner were not as good as I hoped.
White Grass Resort has a great location on the western beaches of Tanna - perfect to watch sunset with a drink during happy hour. The grounds are beautifully kept and the rooms are very comfortable. Airport transfers, snorkelling gear, kayaks, pushbikes and breakfast are all complimentary. Breakfast was amazing and it was easy to organise tours and activities. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our flight back to Port Vila was cancelled at the last minute and the staff organised alternate flights that day for all departing guests with Air- Taxi. You pay a premium for the accommodation but when staff are able to make a significant issue like a cancelled flight seem like a mere blip it is worth it.

AustraliaRoom cleanliness, lots of bugs and mesh netting wasn't secure. Prices for food and drink onsite were a little over the top. More guidance from staff on what to do and when.
Location was fantastic, staff were great. Snorkelling options were amazing. Tours that are provided are a must do!

FijiThe bed was a bit soft for my taste and the pool could have a bit more loungers.
We are a family of four and stayed in the family bure. The family bure had two separate rooms, two bathrooms, a nice living area and a lovely terrace. It offered a lot of space for the whole family. The hotel grounds are lovely and the restaurant has great views on the sea (we even saw dolphins in the bay from the restaurant). The food was good and fresh. The menu changes every day and there is even a separate menu with vegetarian options (some of them can be made vegan). Breakfast was great as well. The hotel can organise day trips for you. There is a pool and there is even a small golf course at the hotel.

Hong KongMany flies at the property. No matter where we were, we couldn't really get a break from them. In the end, we went back to the room and wished we would have left a day early. They are a nuisance, and EVERYWHERE
Beautiful sunsets at your doorstep and convenient location. Food was good but overpriced.

EstoniaThere is no conditioner in room (only fan) and if it is hot then it is really hot in rooms. Not very easy to go to swimming (long walking distance to sea - blue hole snorkeling), no sandy beach and no pool working.
very beautiful views to sunset and close to airport if you have early morning flight

AustraliaEverything was so nice. I can't think of anything that wasn't good. Price discount would have been good :)
The views, comfort, services, food, tours were excellent. The staff were very welcoming and courteous. The complimentary airport transfer was good and convenient. The resort was a 5 min drive from the airport too. The tours depart from the resort which made it easier. The swimming pool and snorkeling close to the resort was nice. Blue cave and Mount yasur tours which we did, were so easy to book from the resort. 2 separate bathrooms for a family was a bonus. Very happy to have booked the resort during our stay.

United StatesWiFi should be better. I know it’s not stable on the island but it still should be readily available in the bure and main building. With Starlink rolling out worldwide you can do a major upgrade and bypass local service. I think that alone would boost your marketing. Thank you for a wonderful but too short stay. A little upgrade in the breakfast would be nice. More fresh fruit
I can’t imagine that there is a better resort on Tanna. For anyone visiting the Bahai House of Worship you want to stay here. The r sort will need some renovation in a couple of years but not now. Great staff, thank you

New ZealandThe manager skulked around refusing to make eye contact. He was totally disengaged and looked to be having a crisis. There are very few other options for dining so you are a bit restricted to paying top dollar for Whitegrass food. It’s really yummy though.
Some of the staff are fantastic. Local women who always smile and engage and help when needed. One in particular is Lorelle and I really hope she gets a promotion soon. The food is excellent (but very expensive). The organisation of tours is hassle free.

Australia-Food although delicious was extremely expensive, in comparison to the nearby resorts. Be prepared to spend 40-50 AUD per person, per meal. -Tours was great, but again more expensive than the other resorts. As an example, here they they 19.500 Vatu for the Volcano Tour and every where that is 14.500, for the exact same thing. -Their facilities, such as the bikes, aren’t in great condition.
-Staff are very friendly (special mention to Chuck, Thomas, Noella and Emily). -Food was delicious -beautiful views -they organised tours -laundry was affordable

AustraliaAll the bikes are broken and were never fixed in the 4 days that we were there so unridable, even though we asked about getting them fixed, broken seats, flat tyres, broken cranks, broken pedals, no turtle snorkel tour and tours are more expensive than the other accommodation in the area. Very limited meal selection for lunch and dinner.
Lovely gardens, quick food service, staff were lovely.

AustraliaThe menu has limited special dietary options; however, the chef and kitchen staff were very accommodating. Please note that Tanna is a very remote island and special dietary options might be limited and we found out after arriving that we might need to bring our own products. It would be great to receive a welcome pack with these recommendations before arriving to the island considering you don’t know what to expect. Nevertheless we didn’t starve and the chef was very accommodating (with the products they had on the island). In addition, we noticed that the tour prices (especially volcano) are cheaper by quite a bit in other resorts close. We were quite surprise by the difference considering it was an identical tour.
It is a very nice place to stay in Tanna. It is close to the airport, offers a lot of day tours including snorkelling and diving. The bungalows are lovely and cozy. Very nice outside areas to sit, relax, have a drink and/or read a book. Nice restaurant. Especially the kitchen staff were very accommodating and friendly. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. We did visit other resorts for drinks/lunches during our stay and definitely we liked White Grass Ocean Resort the most.

New ZealandI acknowledge that prices on remote islands can be high but I still feel the value for the price was average. The room was just ok, dim with no air con or TV, and the pool is small considering the beach front is rocky so not ideal for relaxing. Maybe just due to the guests at the time, but I did not find the atmosphere to be sociable at all as a solo traveler.
Friendly staff, beautiful location and restaurant. Volcano tour thru the hotel was excellent. The restaurant had surprisingly good food and was reasonably priced.
