The hotel was right outside the train station, literally a 10 seconds walk. Location is fantastic. The room was also very clean and comfy and spacious. There is also a restaurant in the hotel for meals. The breakfast is buffet style, maybe abit basic but was nevertheless great. Was buying the akita inu plushies at the in house souvenier store in the hotel and the staff was patient with us, she took a few out and let us choose the ones we wanted to buy. Really like the Japanese hospitality experienced in the hotel. There is nothing to dislike.

Great space in the house, multiple rooms on the ground floor including the kitchen, everything is neat and clean. Koh-san always goes above and beyond: this time, he helped us buy tickets for a performance (which required research and dedication!), and also with a hotel reservation needing phone calls. Thank you so much for all your help, and we hope to be back again one winter -- Akita is our favorite prefecture!

Everything was convenient, clean and pretty, but above everything else was the owners kindness. Constantly present and helpful, they were a delight and an absolute pleasure to chat with. I intend to come visit Akita again, I don't know when, but I'll make sure to come back to this hostel.

From $38 per nightThe location was close to the train station and the Akita dog museum. I only stayed overnight so I missed the chance to see Akita dogs, which I was looking forward to. We arrived late but the warm reception with a complimentary ramen, which is only availble from 7-9 pm, was a delight. The hotel is old but well maintained. The toilet and bath was newly renovated and very clean. The bed was comfortable and conducive to a good night sleep.

The room is clean and just-right-size. Even though there is a private toilet and bath, the onsen here is super good, the outdoor onsen together with a cold snowy winter of Akita gave me the best relaxing feeling. They also provide one drink for each customer. Hotel itself is located around 15 mins walk from Akita JR station.

The hotel is basically part of the JR Akita station, so very convenient. Also had a seven eleven and a Starbucks in the lobby. Our kids loved the view of the train tracks from our windows. Surprisingly, we did not hear the trains too much.
