Bustling and thriving, really cool underground mall / restaurant alley next to the JR Okiyama station. Many dining options in that vacinity. I was only in town for eighteen hours, barely saw anything but had a nice visit on my way to the ultimate destination.

There were beautiful gardens in the city including the wonderful botanic garden. The castle was also interesting. In addition, Okayama is a wonderful place to stay with day trips to wonderful cities/sites such as Hiroshima, Kurashiki, Naoshima or Himeji Castle.

The host was lovely and met us to give us keys when the cleaner hadn't put them back yet, we were able to check in early. Even though there was a language barrier, text to translate worked well. There was a spare bed we were able to use when my mother wasn't able to climb the stairs. It's a good taste of what the Japanese city life is like when it comes to apartment size. I did like the stay, I could see so much potential in the facility.
