The location is excellent, the room is very cozy and clean. All the equiptment in the house are very modern and the beds are very comfortable too. This hotel is the best one we like during our travelling time. By the way, I like to thank Mr. Yagawa's help. If without him, We couldn't solve our car accident smoothly on that night. He drove 50 mins to meet us, and spent couple hours to communicate and translation for us with the towing and insurance company. We are very appreciated with his enthusiasm and help.

The host was very helpful and tried everything to make the experience as phenomenal as possible. From recommending scenic places over unique shrines to the best places around the beautiful town, she also helped me fix my scooter and introduced me to locals.
If you have your own means of transport it's very easy to reach Aso, Takachiho or the absolutely amazing mountains directly south of here.
The futons are also very comfy and no normal, hard futons, but ~10 centimeters high and as comfortable as a normal mattress, so don't let that stop you from coming here.
I wish I could have stayed longer after spending the first night here.

The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

stayed at the hotel as liked the novelty of staying in a hotel with an observatory, and it really didn't disappoint. even though the star-gazing tour was led in japanese, so was difficult to follow, the views were very impressive, and the enthusiasm of the staff was enough to carry the experience.

Nice space with traditional futons. Very spacious and quiet. Very nice host who also baked wonderful bread for our breakfast. The owner is currently building a restaurant next door so having meals there might be a possibility in the near future.

The bbq area was terrible and almost unusable. No resources. Wouldn’t even step into kitchen it was dirty and unhelpful utensils. Bathroom was also dirty - dust, mould, used bandaids in shower, cockroaches. Gas burner provided but no fry pans or grills. Microwave was dirty. Things everywhere making any communal facilities uncomfortable and improper for use.
