We loved absolutely everything about this gem of a property: the location in a stunning natural environment, the adorable staff, the unique history and decor of the hotel full of collectible and heirloom furniture and, of course the wonderful dinner. Food certainly was a highlight as this is generally where Norway fails to impress us. We were served a fresh, creative, and delicious dinner in the beautiful dining room overlooking the fjell. The chef even adjusted the menu for the vegetarians among us, creating genuine new dishes for us. Wow! Again, that was unexpected as eating veg in Norway is often a challenge.
Everything felt authentic and personal in this independently-run property. Dinner starts with a presentation of the history of the place by the owner, their struggles during Covid and how they overcame them. Charmingly, this introduction included the reading of a poem (sadly we don’t understand Norwegian so had to rely on the translation of the presentation afterwards).
Every effort is made to be sustainable : There’s a vegetable garden, the delicious bread is baked on the premisses (we took a box of the amazing Flatbrød with us) and the lovely shop sells some local cheese, honey and other specialties including, this being Norway, sweets :)
We are already dreaming of a next stay to the Tuddal Høyfjellshotel to experience more of its magic and of the stunning nature around it as our stay this time was way too short.
Note to the owners: stay as you are, you are a genuine gem and the world needs more places like yours. Thank you for everything!

We came from Sweden for a extended weekend and wanted to get 2 full days of skiing, which we did! The ski slopes are a good mix of easy and gentle to a little more challenging, yet all fun and well maintained. All the operating staff were very helpful and pleasant. The resort is small in terms of amenities (only a few restaurants and bars - but all of good standard!) but more than enough for a cosy stay!
It has a very relaxed atmosphere and very picturesque location. A lot of cross- country facilities and possibilities to explore the winter outdoors. Highly recommend for a families and individuals alike who come for the outdoors!
The only downside is depending on where you are staying you may need a car to get around. There are few walkways unless you are on skies so for those that don't ski you have to stay close to the lodge or have a cosy cabin where you plan to spend a lot of time.

Great place for a long weekend, sadly this time the snow conditions were a bit poor, with very little snow and very windy. They should consider increasing the number of "elbil" charging stations across the location, given the increase of the "elbil" car park in Norway.

Location is great. It was a little quite in the town.
Location is great. It was a little quite in the town. We preferred that. Lot of nice walks around. It is a bit of a browsing work to find out start location and trail maps. I had done the preparation and that helped. Information in English is not readily available. Many trails are well marked and that helps. Location is absolutely stunning for walking and hiking.

It seemed that a lot of money has been invested in relatively unimportant things such as mobile food stalls and not enough in actually keeping lifts running when it gets a little windy. There is no refund when the weather closes lifts and runs which you can understand but it didn’t seem like there was that much effort to get things open it seemed like as soon as there was a wind lifts were closed and the t bars that did remain running were run at a glacial pace so huge cues formed. I’ve sat on chair lifts in the alps that run in much higher winds. It’s health and safety gone mad.
