Hotel Hanafuji Inn, hotel in Furano

Located in Furano, 4.9 miles from Furano Station, Hotel Hanafuji Inn has accommodations with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

This inn is run by a very friendly and helpful couple, who speak good English. Everything is very modern and clean, and our Japanese-style room was spacious, and the bathroom was also spacious, especially for Japanese standards. On a clear day, you have great views of the Tokachi Mountain Range. It's only 12 minutes by car in the winter from Furano and Kamifurano, and it's likely to be sunny by the inn in the winter, even when the mountains are snowy.

Spacious rooms compared to standard Japanese hotels. Loved having a couch next to the tv. Big, delicious breakfast every morning. Gareth and Rika, the owners, couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. Was thankful for the shuttle up to the lifts every morning, even though it’s a short walk.

Big mountain by Japanese standards with lots of varied terrain. Suitable for intermediates and advanced skiers, a little less so for real beginners. Not overly westernised so still has a Japanese feel. Generally very good snow.

When kids asleep I can go down have free ramen with my husband . The onsen was very nice and private onsen suitable for our whole family. Free coffee , oolong tea ,juice , water at lobby helps a lot when too Cold to go outside . Free Yakut in the morning was great for kids too . The hotel breakfast was a little bit expensive. We only had once .

    Winter wonderland with amazing views.

Winter wonderland with amazing views. Powder snow everywhere, perfect for snowball fights and snowmen making. Local business owners are lovely to talk to. It’s a quiet place and life takes a more relaxed pace here. Stop by at Fukuzushi/ Fuku Sushi for the biggest nigiri you have ever laid your eyes on. The sushi chefs of Fuku sushi have been making sushi in Furano for at least 40 years. Say hi to chef Ohno, he’s a lovely guy and very friendly. Our hotel La Vista Furano was a destination in and of itself. Skiing at New Furano Prince Hotel’s Furano zone for the first time treated us to some of the best winter views and the best powder snow. The only downside would be that there aren’t a lot of readily available transportation options during the winter, so always book taxis or buses in advance.

DAY TRIP IS ENOUGH: If you are not skiing, I would recommend...

DAY TRIP IS ENOUGH: If you are not skiing, I would recommend that you take a day trip bus tour from Sapporo Station. All the sites can be seen in one bus tour; best to stay the night and other nights in Sapporo. JR FURANO STATION (TRAIN): AVOID IF YOU HAVE LUGGAGES: Be warned: no elevator or escalator in this Station, and to reach any platform from the entrance, you need to climb up one steep flight of stairs, walk through a bridgeway, and walk down another steep flight of stairs. Very very difficult if you have large luggages, and not fit! I would recommend avoiding this station if you have luggages. Note that there is a bus which takes you from Furano to Ashikara station or even Sapporo station, and the travel time between the train trip (with at least 2 train transfers) and the more comfortable bus trip is almost the same. If dragging luggages from train to train AND up/down stairs is an issue: take the bus!

Expected deep powder but spring came early.

Expected deep powder but spring came early. We got there at the end of Feb, just missing a good snow dump, then it got warm and very springlike. Bit disappointing but we'd already had a good couple of weeks down in Honshu. Had expected powder days through March... Maybe just not this year? Can see how the field would be fun with better show. Will try again, earlier, another year! So we put away our boards, did the night sky watch tour (saw a deer and a fox too!) , and the yuma dog sledding experience, and walked into town. Small, farming town - not just a resort.

Cosy house with plenty of space for all our gear.

Cosy house with plenty of space for all our gear. Heaters in every room made the stay during winter great. We had a car so travelling back to Furano for dinner etc wasn't an issue. Bedding was comfortable and kitchen had all required for cooking up a meal at home. Great views of mountain ranges.

Directly opposite the lift, social lounge with drinks and snacks provided daily. Small shop with additional drinks and snacks available. Buffet Breakfast was spectacular. This hotel had everything we could have wanted. Discounted lift passes and good ski hire equipment in the lobby. Although it was very family focused with a kids club area, we didn't hear a sound whilst in our room and never noisy with kids (wouldn't have minded if it was we love kids but ours are all grown up).

The shop street is vv near the hotel- Furano Mache and the little shops ,supermarkets n restaurants are all around the hotel n within walking distance. Location also not far from the Flower farms with their lovely summer blooms. Staff members are very polite and helpful. Breakfast is fine offering a variety choice of Japanese and Western breakfast. Good ski in ski out resort for families. Direct access to ski slopes and ski wear rental shop was within hotel building. Ski slopes suitable for beginners. F&B staff was very attentive and polite. A particular F&B manager (I didn't note down his name) was very friendly and took good care of us when we were dining at the 12th level restaurant for lunch. Souvenir shop and convenience store is surprisingly well stock up.

They have the private onsen and the best part is that it does not required booking. You can just go in if it is not occupied. Even the public one is very clean. As some others review, they serve foc good ramen at 10pm. The hotel is surrounded with nice view that oversee the street and ski resort. They even provide economical ski rental and transportation to the ski resort.

the kitchen and common area is big and clean, We rent a bicycle from the host to drive around and to the city center which are most flat, a bit hard to drive uphill to the the New Prince Hotel (in 30 minutes), but you may took a bus with the bike there instead. Bus stop is around the corner and schedule is good enough.
