    Surprisingly active little place.

Surprisingly active little place. I thought it might be a sleepy, homogenous pocket in the middle of nowhere but there's lots of walking trails, biking, and kayaking; that weekend there was even a big multicultural festival in the city center. Downtown has ample shops, diners, cafes, plus a fine arts theater.

Loved the waffles, chicken and greens for breakfast at the Filling Station. Very reasonably priced. The Redeye Brewing Company is a must stop for a "brewski" and dinner. The Tine and Cellar is a good choice for cocktails and dinner or a weekend breakfast.

Nice town, downtown is welcoming, yummy restaurants. The Filling Station had a great brunch buffet. Downtown had a chalk fest. Mularkeys had amazing Bloody Mary’s. We also attended the balloon fest which was lots of fun.

We came to Wausau for a mini vacation with the focus for our 5 years great grandson to have fun swimming. Much of our time was spent at the motel. Days Inn Wyndam of Wausau is surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants. Which was perfect. Plenty of stores of all varieties a short walk or ride away.

Breakfast was awful, first of all there were three of us in our room but we only received two vouchers for breakfast and had to pay $9.00 for another, which we denied….. secondly, we had to give a time when we wanted to have our breakfast…I’m sorry but when I’m staying in a hotel I don’t want to have my time regulated…. Breakfast Awas awful, soggy toast and a warmed over boxed meal….a Continental breakfast would have been much more pleasant.

Booking.com did not reserve my room. I had to pay for another room, yet was charge by booking.com for the room they never reserved. The hotel and staff were excellent, booking.com was the issue. All these years of using you as my vacation search for motels and more, may no longer happen, if charges for the room we did not get reserved by booking.com, show up on my credit card. I wrote to booking on the day this took place

I stay here whenever life takes me through Wausau. This is an historic inn that is lovingly kept. Furnishings and public rooms are beautiful and welcoming. The innkeeper is so cordial and enables guests to connect with one another. Have to mention his out-of-this-world breakfasts!

Loved the charm of this non-chain hotel. friendly staff, good food, and clean comfortable surroundings. We usually ski out west but consider returning to this "wisconsinesque" lodge for the ambiance and charm.

We only got this hotel for the pool and hot tub (or we would have stayed with family) and the pool and hot tub were both under construction when we got there.
