Waitsfield is exactly how I pictured a small New England town should look. It has adorable shops, a farmer's market, and some good restaurant options. We had delicious steak at the Hyde Away Inn, and beer at Lawson's Finest Liquids. Our stay at the Mad River Lodge was comfortable, in a lovely setting just outside of town. We were in the area for the Mad River Marathon, which is challenging, but scenic.

We loved the town, however we had a hard time finding businesses and restaurants that were actually open for business. This was partly due to COVID and also we visited on a Monday/Tuesday. We sadly learned that some of the establishments we wanted to visit were closed permanently or not opened due to the days of the week. We ended up having to go to the supermarket to purchase our dinner, because 3 of the restaurants we wanted to go to were closed for business, or closed at 8 pm, (we live in the city and an 8 pm close is unheard of) and we didn’t want to eat pizza or Chinese.... so we ended up at at the grocery store which also closed at 9.

Beautiful town nestled in the mountains of Vermont.
Beautiful town nestled in the mountains of Vermont. Check out Lawson's Brewery and Pub -- A new facility with exceptional beer and unique atmosphere. Consider staying at the nearby Tucker Hill Inn with comfortable cozy rooms, outstanding staff, and excellent food. Relax with a round of golf at the nearby Sugar Bush Golf Course which is absolutely beautifully maintained and well designed. The mountain views are spectacular. Waitsfield is worth your time to visit!

Winding our way over mountains and through the forests was really enjoyable. And arriving in Waitsfield was a pleasant surprise. I kept watching for the unique character and design of houses and other buildings around the town.
The owners were super. The Hotel is very well maintained and the beds are super comfortable. It is an order building so sound travels but that it is to be expected in a building like this. The fireplace was wonderful to sit by in the evening. The restaurant was exceptional. It is a must to eat there. The breakfast was very good and something different every day.
The hotel is very cozy with the typical flair of a mountain lodge. Beautiful and clean rooms, easy check-in, friendly staff, free coffee all the time and even some cheap snacks for breakfast. The hotel lobby is also very beautiful. We were looking for a cheap overnight-stay and our expectations were even exceeded.
The Inn owner Tim was excellent in making sure that our stay was wonderful. He cooked amazing breakfasts every morning that powered us on the ski slopes. The location was within minutes of Sugarbush and Mad River. The room was nice and comfortable with a great view of the snow field and various birds and deer.
Karen and Mick are the BEST....they are a team that welcomes you into their family as soon as you arrive. The Inn is so homey, the bedroom so welcoming and the bed/pillows/bedding.....AMAZING. They are the best guides for anything in the area. BUT...the breakfasts are gourmet delicious! !!!
We love staying at Bed & Breakfast places. The Waitsfield Inn is a beautiful old home. The owners were very accommodating and we had a nice breakfast before leaving. There is a large living space to watch television, read, relax, and play games. We were greeted by their sweet pup, Milo.
Hotel staff and location are fantastic. The people made the stay. In back they have a great bar area and restaurant for locals to meet and eat at. That was special as you normally don't sit with locals at ski locations. This is a special little inn. Would stay again.
Easy Check in! I didn’t see any staff but that ok I was provided with everything I needed.
The hotel was still having some refurbishment going on but it’s looking great!
Room very beautiful felt very safe as a solo traveller!
Lovely surrounding loads of Parking
Location was perfect. We had a soaring ride booked. Also close enough to Burlington to make a visit and dinner. Host was so accommodating and he even let me have 2 breakfasts! They were delicious!
