Loved the Whitney Biennial and walking along the waterfront by the World Trade Center. Thought the Tenement Museum was over-rated.
Dinner at Dirt Candy was one of the best meals of my life; I would not return to NYC without eating there. Epicerie Boulud in the Oculus at the World Trade Center (great turkey , frisee, and aioli sandwiches and ginger cookies) and Eataly (White Moustache yogurt and caprese breakfast sandwiches) were good for smaller meals and grab & go.
We used taxis liberally but would like to work on mastering the subway on the next visit.

we allowed a couple of days at the end to just stroll and shop, rather than go full on !
easy to use the subway stations and its cheap, just tap card for entry
use the free ferry to Staten Island,to see Statue of Liberty, the outlet shopping is not very good
walk the High Line, fantastic views and get to the other districts down town Central Park is close to the hotel and worth a visit
walk over Brooklyn Bridge!
we didn't bother with a show on Broadway, very expensive, the q's for tickets of the day were about 1-2 hours (half price but not guaranteed good seats)
the food!!good breakfast fast food ,bagels etc but expensive
evening food ,restaurants very expensive for what i would call average foodie found a noodle bar down 51st street which was like food court inside not obvious from the facade but very good and reasonably priced Tipping is expected (they say 20%! but we did 10%)even on drinks at the bar
happy hour good value in Irish bars
Overall a fantastic week to celebrate a 70th birthday
would i visit again?? perhaps for a shorter time as i wouldn't need to visit all the places
we travelled April it was cold some days bit of rain and some sun i don't think i would go in the summer it would be too uncomfortable

Enjoyed seeing all the landmarks I’d only seen in the movies or on tv. The subways were a challenge but we only got lost a couple of times. I have a wheelchair and a lot of the entrances and exits did not have an elevator. My son had to carry wheelchair up/down steps and I had to go very slowly holding on to handrail.

Everyone must experience at least an overnight in NYC!
Everyone must experience at least an overnight in NYC! The excitement and liveliness is unmatched! Take in a theatre show! Go for family style Italian at Tony Di Napoli's and stay at the Manhattan Times Square Riu!
It's a great place for fun and excitment, afterall, it's the city that never sleeps!
"My two-night stay at the Civilian Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. The hotel's boutique style exudes charm, with every detail meticulously curated to offer a unique and delightful experience. The staff deserves special mention for their warm and welcoming hospitality that truly made me feel at home. The hotel's great location on 48th Street, near Times Square, Broadway theaters is an added bonus. Plus, the close proximity to subway stations all within a 5-minute walk is just perfect for city exploration.
The location was great just a couple of blocks away from Penn Station and near Times Square and some good food options. It's also near the convention center and Hudson Yards so it's very convenient if you come into Manhattan via megabus. The staff was very friendly and the bed was extremely comfortable. Also, the unlimited bottled water came in very handy for treks around the city and it was one less thing to worry about. They also have pineapple infused water and coffee in the lobby and some cookies :)
It is in a great location. A couple of blocks away from Times Square and the subway station. We had the room with a city view, which made it a little bit nicer. The bathroom was very nice. Rooms are not that big, but enough to be comfortable. The hotel has a bar on the first floor, so was great to have some drinks at night. Breakfast was awesome! It had a lot of healthy options and the room was big so you could sit fast. A great hotel to enjoy New York City!
The hotel is in a great location, near Times Square, and has a subway stop right across the street. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived early in the day and let us into a room before check-in time which we had asked them about before we arrived. Although the room description mentioned fridge and microwave, the room had a kitchen area with everything but a stove which was so convenient in a city that is incredibly expensive.
Pod Hotel is so very well located at Hell's Kitchen in midtown, very close from Times Square, Hudson Yards, Penn Station and Port Authority Bus terminal... if fact, when you stay at Pod Hotel you are very close to everything in Manhattan. My room was a little bit small, but very confortable... the bathroom was very spacious and smart. Pod hotel is a wonderful place to stay in New York, i wil stay there again in my next trip to NYC.
The Manhattan Club is a great place to stay in New York - at the north end of Times Square and just a couple blocks away from the noise and hubbub. Also, a short walk north to Central Park, so location is a favorite for me.
The room had a queen bed and a queen sofa bed, plus a kitchenette which makes making coffee and breakfast in the room very easy.
Large room relative to Manhattan, but for sure the are not 323ft as indicated at Booking, it seems less than 200ft which is still large for this area.
A car pickup/drop place at the hotel backward very helpful at this busy area of Manhattan.
The location at the Times Square for some people will be best, for other maybe too busy and crowded
I recently stayed at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square West hotel and I had a great experience. The hotel is located in a great location, just steps from Times Square. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York City.
My 3rd time staying here. Once again the best place I've stayed & I've stayed in "MAYBE" New York City Hotels (as a BORN & RAISED New Yorker.) The front desk staff is by far the best of any place I've stayed. Rooms & Hotel are very clean. The Door Men are SUPER cool & give you the feeling you've known them for years!!
The locations is excellent close to Times Square, as well as all the facilities in the hotel! Room was nice and clean very conviene to have a kitchen! The breakfast is awesome succeeded my expectations!!! Would stay again definitively it is the best I had experienced in New York Manhattan!
Location is excellent, the beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. the hotel is definitely out dated which for me wasn’t a negative as it gave me a feeling of being in what felt like old New York City. The staff were friendly and allowed me an early check in, that was very nice.
The hotel is in a great location. Quick walk to Grand Central Station and not far from Times Square and other famous Manhattan streets and landmarks! Like the ease of self check in/out rather than waiting to speak to staff. Free water and the view from the roof is amazing at night time!
Best view of Manhattan. U can see all the skyscrapers. Tram ride is the best. Riding between the houses is cool. From there 15 minutes to central Park. Ferry Ride to Wall street is nice. Hotel is quiet, Not in the loud City Center. Friendly people. Taxi from times Square about 35 $
The Staff was very kind and helpful, the whole hotel is clean and in in good condition. we had a spacious room at the 19th floor with a nice view on the "New Yorker" and on "The Edge". The Subway is only 10 Min away and Times Square is nearby. A good choice for Midtown Manhattan.
The location of the hotel is amazing, with different options to eat "cheap" and different metro stations/lines that definitely help a lot in terms of the City exploration for tourism. Additional is near to Oculus, Memorial 9/11 and The bull being mandatory steps for any trip.
Very comfortable boutique hotel in the hearth of Manhattan. Room very nice and comfortable, both room and common spaces very clean. Super location, at 2 steps from times square and central park. Very nice evening food and drinks at the hotel included in the room price.
The hotel's location is amazing. It's central to everything. Times Square is minutes away. All New York City attractions are a less than 30 minutes of walking. The hotel is very clean and causey. Many restaurants are few blocks away as well.
Room was good, but shower wasn’t good and a wash basin tap dripped all night (we wrapped it in a towel so we would not hear the dripping). For a relatively inexpensive New York City hotel, it wasn’t bad.
Fantastic location and excellent price for a great hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Walking distance from Times Square and a subway station at the end of the street makes the whole city very easily accessible!
