Staff was great. Hotel was very low grade. Would not recommend or stay there again unless they overhaul the rooms and add breakfast or restaurant. I didn't have a car and am senior with disability for walking a distance. Not much around hotel to accommodate good service.

Even though I grew up in Rockford, I had never been to Elgin...
Even though I grew up in Rockford, I had never been to Elgin. It was very nice and had access to many places that we were going. We especially like the food at Jimmy's Charhouse, which is located next the hotel. Great food !!!!! We also attended a party at Pinstripes in South Barrington. A very nice place with lots of things to do.

The room we received was not good.
The room we received was not good. Holes in the wall above the bed where something was taken off. The refrigerator made all kinds of sounds but the worst was the bathroom- floor was not clean and there was some mold around and below the bathtub. They are remodeling I guess but no one told us. The pluses are the breakfast, some of the staff and the location.

Out of all the states that I drive through it amazes me that...
Out of all the states that I drive through it amazes me that II you roll into Elgin you are almost guaranteed to be followed by a police officer if you make the mistake of stopping at a park or any place that's supposed to be recreational. To Serve and Protect does not apply here it seems to be harass and follow. Very unnerving when you're just trying to relax and enjoy the scenery of a beautiful Old City. The bike paths are beautiful as long as you can get dressed and get on your bike before hassled by the law. I will no longer make an attempt to visit any of the parks in this city.don't make the mistake of standing still for a few minutes too long it is considered loitering I was told by the local police at which point you'll be asked what you're doing in that one location.

The rooms were clean but needed a little updating. The free breakfast was outstanding and the wait staff was patient when I realized what I ordered wasn’t gluten free. The order had already been placed with the kitchen but she went ahead and ordered me something different without a second thought. She was very kind about it. The staff in the morning was professional and got us checked out quickly.

The room had some dated furniture with obvious stains, but it was a nice, big room and the price was a good value. It was very hard to sleep because multiple neighbors were very loud late at night. Also, a refrigerated truck with its compressor running for a long time was parked next to our room. This was unfortunate, but we appreciated the low price for the stay anyway.

Great options for everyone and a very attenetive attendant. The decorating seemed new and nice, but I don't know why they bothered with carpeting under the bed area.
