Mariposa is an interesting little town with lots of places to eat and a variety of interesting and quirky shops. The locals were friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located for those wishing to visit Yosemite National Park. The drive on the back roads from El Portal to Mariposa boasts some spectacular views

Mariposa is a nice country town with good range of shops, services and food options for its size (including a supermarket), even in our early spring visiting time. This is due to its proximity to Yosemite NP about 70km away (our reason for visiting). If using the YARTs bus service to access the park its a great base.

Mariposa is about as close you can get to Yosemite without staying in the park, but it's still an hour drive from the valley. This is fine if you're visiting the park for 1 or 2 days, but after 2 days, you'll definitely have had enough of the driving. The town itself is very cute and has tons of nice places to eat. There is also a very large supermarket.

The Day and Night Staff were very kind and helpful, everything was clean and functional, and you CANNOT beat the natural beauty a short distance away. Yosemite is a national treasure for good reason. :)

Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see.
Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see. We stayed there to visit Yosemite. But Mariposa has no mobile coverage, Had we known that beforehand, we'd have stayed in Yosemite village, inside the park, which has good mobile coverage.

Great little town, very hot in the summer.
Great little town, very hot in the summer. Near the Yosemite Park entrance that is closest to Yosemite Valley. It is historic with several nice shops and restaurants. Check out The Grove House for a great selection of Micro Brews and great food. Excellent mixed drinks and live music as well! Stay here if you don't want to spend over $400.00 a night!
Christine, the owner, seemed very sweet and answered all our questions.
The atmosphere of the Little Valley Inn is quite layed back and the cabins are located in a charming spot of nature.
We read about the breakfast, which indeed was really enjoyable and much appreciated.
The place is not very close to the Yosemite Valley main entrance but has the advantage of being closer the Mariposa Grove one. I recommend.
My family booked a family suite for our trip to Yosemite. It was ~45 mins-1 hr depending on where in Yosemite you are driving to. The space was wonderful with a living area with couches to sit and relax, and had sleeping space for 5 people. In addition, microwave/fridge were a bonus. Mariposa is a lovely town, and I would recommend that people go out to explore after their day in Yosemite
Really lovely cabin for our family of five, 20 minutes outside Mariposa. (Pioneer market there is amazing and had everything we needed to stock up) We drove to Yosemite in under an hour in mid December. Fireplace and spa were lovely in the cold wet weather. The kitchen is well stocked. The beds are super comfortable. The new bathroom in the upstairs parent retreat is great.
Spent two nights here while visiting Yosemite, it was fine. Everything else was either booked or more expensive. Close to many restaurants, a coffee shop is right in the backyard. Yes, it’s small and kinda old but the shower works, ac cools and it was very clean and quite. And Mariposa is a much easier drive to Yosemite than Oakhurst, just 1 hour on not too windy roads.
I stayed two nights at with family (4 of us) while visiting Yosemite. Nice location within Mariposa town. smack at the center. many restaurants , grocery nearby. Ample parking (free). Simple , but nice breakfast at the cafe. Spacious and clean room. friendly staff. There is a small swimming pool and restaurant , but we didn't use.
Close to Yosemite, actually the first hotel right when come in so easy to find and surrounded by all you need. Small and quiet but that what was great about it. We had 3 large queen beds for an amazing price and that room was very large for the whole family. Free continental breakfast was very pleasing when having a huge family.
The hotel boasts an exceptional location, conveniently situated near major attractions and transport links. The rooms are well-appointed, featuring a comprehensive range of amenities that cater to both comfort and convenience. This combination of a prime location and excellent facilities makes for a truly pleasant stay.
Good position close to the Yosemite National Park. Markets, gas station an other services available near to the location. We found chocolate and wine upon arrival. But the best point is a very good barbecue to cook our ribeyes as well as backed potatoes!
This place is a real gem, close to town center, there is a nearby market and a gas station.
If you are traveling to Yosemite N.P. or Kings Canyon N.p. and looking for clean and comfy rooms with helpful front desk. This is the place.
Good room, comfy bed, good shower. Keurig coffee machine was broken but replaced next day. Free parking with plenty of spaces. Near to restaurants & cheap petrol. Not too far from Yosemite (45 mins drive). Pool available but not used.
Miners Inn is really great. We like that it’s simply decorated and classic. Good location. Breakfast is amazing (a bit more fresh fruit would make it even better;). We love the proximity to Yosemite and the big tub!
The facilities were great after a long day travelling/walking. Coffee machine, fridge and microwave in the room was really handy, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer nearby.
Marion was the sweetest person. Very thoughtful and caring for us. The location in Mariposa is perfect and 1 hour away from the park. The hotel was a vintage style that my wife loved.
The location! Right at the central of Mariposa. The room is big and clean, so that's great. Overall, comfortable 2 nights at Mariposa Lodge. Would stay again.
