This quiet and quirky town is loacted an hour from the South Rim Trail of the Grand Canyon.
We stayed at the Highlander Motel which is only a short distance walk to some great local resturants and bars, gas stations and grocery stores.
We ate at the Cruiser's Route 66 Cafe, I highly rate the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwhich and the atomosphere was that of a true diner.
The locals are great and I hope any one who vists, enjoys Williams as much as I did!

Friendly staff and cute property with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Super accommodating and easy to find with attractions and places to eat within a 3 to 15 minutes drive depending on which business you chose to visit. It is also about an hours (1hr) drive away from the Grand Canyon. Was a relaxing and fun experience.

Williams is a great little historic town A lot of great eating options and the gateway to the Grand Canyon. The pizza place/brewery is great and the Pine Breakfast Restaurant is amazing. The Route 66 Diner has great service but the food is meh. I wish we had more time to spend in actual Williams and walk around to all of the fun shops!

Williams is a quaint little town but still has plenty to do and great food! Bearizona is always a must and right up the street, and there’s also the coaster and shooting range for fun entertainment. It’s also a great location for many beautiful Poot ions within driving range from the Grand Canyon to Sedona, Jerome, and Flagstaff.

Williams is beautiful and very green even during 25 degree temps. Dress warm! You will do a lot of walking because the traffic is crowded downtown and its quicker to park and walk. We liked how festive the town looked with all holiday lights everywhere. We had good pizza downtown. The buffet dinner in downtown was not impressive cost us $60 for a couple. Not worth it.
The staff was so accommodating ! We got there early in the am and wanted to leave one of our cars there before check in and all ride together to visit the Grand Canyon. They let us do that. Restaurant and bar staff was fantastic!!! Food was fabulous!! Thank you! I booked another reservation for another family member arriving next week. We will be back! Thank you so much!!! Loved the decor, katsina figurines/dolls. Too cold to use any of the outdoor pool or jacuzzi facilities but maybe try in the spring. I love Williams!!!
Everyone there was friendly and efficient. We were informed at check in of the COVID restrictions and policies. We did not hear any noise from adjoining rooms or hallway. Buffet breakfast next door at the Fred Harvey Restaurant was plentiful & delicious. The hotel is right next to the train station. The train makes 2 trips to the Grand Canyon daily. The hotel lobby still has 1890's ambiance, but the rooms are modern and comfortable. The little town of Williams is on Route 66 & plays that up.
Compared two other hotels in this category this place is head and shoulders above its competition. It isn’t a new hotel, however it is obvious that management cares and is trying. It’s very clean…even the nooks and crannies! There was fresh paint, new linens, And the staff are friendly and welcoming. There are 2 Motel six locations in Williams I’m not sure about the other one? Again, compared to any other hotel in this category this one is superior. Thank you to the staff and management :-)
Breakfast much better than expected- waffles ( regular and gluten free); scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, assorted breads and bagels and even bean and cheese burritos. Room clean and comfy, with fridge, coffee/tea. Staff friendly and helpful. Location perfect for strolling through quaint Williams AZ ( a zip line down middle of town!). Many nearby restaurants and strong historical Route 66 vibe. Short trip to Grand Canyon. We would definitely stay there again when in the area.
The room was expansive and beautifully decorated. Both the kitchen and bathroom were well-equipped and thoughtfully arranged. Despite its proximity to the main road, the room was remarkably quiet with no traffic noise. Conveniently, we were able to charge our car at the hotel, which was a great perk, especially since there were no operational superchargers nearby. Additionally, it's just a 45-minute drive to the South Entrance of the Grand Canyon.
The Lodge on Route 66 is a nice, comfortable and cute hotel just one hour away from the Grand Canyon National Park. The rooms are very well decorated and beds are super comfy, with all the amenities you may need. Nice to have breakfast included in the room price with a great selection of continental and hot food. It’s perfect located at the heart of Williams, close to restaurants and shops. Definitely recommended.
We had a lot of experience of staying in different hotels and apartments all around the world. Great interior and the most clean and new apartments we have ever been, so comfortable check in with code, very quiet, everything very well organized and smart, super cozy, interesting thematic of Grand Canyon in every little detail, definitely will come once again on next trip to Grand Canyon!
We loved the location of the property. We could walk to everything in Williams. The front desk told us about the town and an old west show we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. We are on a retro Route 66 road trip, so we have been staying in original hotels. This one was a great find - extremely clean and great value!
This hotel was in the perfect location and was extremely beautiful and well appointed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Williams. It is only been open a short time so we were one of the first guest. We spoke to the owner and he told us his plans for the future And it sounds amazing
Location, facilities, and price. It is a great balance between location and price. It is only an hour's drive to the Great Canyon National Park. Compared to other nearby hotels, the price of the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Williams is amazing. The room is neat and comfortable. Very recommend the place.
It had a good location to Grand Canyon South. Bonus which we did not know at the booking, that Williams is a nice little town on the Route 66, therefore we have spend some hours there. The motel had enough parking place even we have arrived ~midnight.
The location of the hotel was only a short safe walk into Williams and was easily located just of the highway. There was the option to have breakfast in the hotel at a fair price.
The pool and hot tub were nice. The food was tasty except for a few things and pretty expensive. Breakfast was good. Williams is a cute little town to visit on Route 66.
