The hotel room was clean when I arrived and I did not have any issues with checking in. The breakfast downstairs was fairly good, however, I would suggest their hours be open a little later than 9:30. Staff were friendly, and I couldn't be more pleased with the housekeeping crew. When I first arrived to my hotel room, my air conditioning was not cooling. I called the front desk and they sent someone to fix it immediately which was very appreciated. Although it was not 100% fixed, they were able to stop the hot air from blowing and provided a fan to help with the temperature. Overall, I am satisfied.

Fairbanks is a great place to see the Northern Lights.
Fairbanks is a great place to see the Northern Lights. We went on February 29 for five nights and saw the Aurora four of the five nights. I even saw it the first night from our Lodging at Pikes Waterfront Lodging. You can even rent clothing from Alaska Elements that will keep you warm in 40 below weather. I'm a sunny California girl and have never been in weather below 20 and I was toasty warm in the gear they supplied. It was so convenient. They dropped the clothes at our hotel and picked them up at the end. They cost less than if we had bought the necessary shoes alone. It included the parka, mittens , bib pants, and snow shoes. So don't let the weather discourage you from going. It was a once in a lifetime experience I am so glad I did. I went with two girlfriends and we are all over 65 and had the best time ever. I recommend staying at Pikes Waterfront Lodge. You can book evening tours that takes you to special places to see the Aurora that include a nice warm place to view them from as well as being able to go out on decks to view them. The clothes will keep you warm. I laid in the snow for an hour viewing the the Northern Lights and was as warm as could be. Also my iPhone 15 took great pictures. If doing a dog sled ride is on your bucket list, Rod's Alaska guide tour is great. Again, the gear will keep you warm. Also another fun thing to do is Running Reindeer Ranch which lets you walk through a forest interacting with 13 reindeer that let you pet them and walk around you. It is an unreal experience. You should do both activities. If you go in March, you can also see the World Championship Ice Sculptures. And they are "out of this world". Have fun-I hope I had encouraged many people to have these lifetime experiences.

Great friendly town with polite helpful people and loads of interest for tourists. We found it's also got a great bus service - the locals don't use it because they have cars, but we used it because there were no hire cars available - book ahead.

Fairbanks has lots of winter activities to enjoy if you tent a car like dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice sculptures at the Fairgrounds. The North Pole is only a 20 minute drive from Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs an hour drive. The roads are maintained and the people are friendly. There are many delicious restaurants. We especially liked The Cookie Jar for breakfast. We enjoyed the University of Fairbanks Museum and the Aurora Borealis movie in the museum. We liked seeing the Alaska Pipeline off the highway and made a couple of stops to read about it. Definitely visit the Aurora Ice Museum in Chena Hot Springs. It is a fun experience and there is a free tour of the resort’s self sustainable power plant and green houses where they grow their own fresh vegetables. There are several Northern Light viewing areas near Fairbanks (Cleary Summit, Murthy’s Dome and Chena Hot Springs). To view the Northern Lights we suggest booking a tour to be with knowledgeable guides if it’s your first time. Also, rental cars are not allowed to drive to the Arctic Circle, so it’s best to book a tour if you plan to go there. The weather is very chilly, but it’s worth bundling up in layers to enjoy all Fairbanks has to offer. We definitely want to return to Fairbanks in the very near future during the months of February or March.

Fairbanks is little more than a large, run down Alaskan village. Summer visits are best because of the increased activities available for visitors. Unless there is a specific reason to visit in winter, ie viewing the Northern Lights, there are other, much more desirable places to go.
The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. Communication prior to our arrival was fantastic. Breakfasts were home cooked and practically made to order! My bed was so comfy and I'm a bit of a tough customer. I really enjoyed talking with Fred, who is a wealth of information about the area and Alaska in general. I also really liked that it was out of town but pretty centrally located to anything I wanted to do including not too far from the AFB where I was working all week. I would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Fairbanks.
Very well equipped! The owner has done a great job. The beds are top-notch, the kitchen well equipped. The location, just off Cushman near Airport Way, is very convenient. The TV is easy to use with a long list of channels. We needed help pushing the right buttons on the remote, but once Logan showed us that, we were in business. As a local owner, Logan had lots of local knowledge he shared with us. We had a really pleasant stay! If we are in Fairbanks again, this is where we will stay.
A very "Alaskan" lodge with character. I stayed on night in an "Aurora View" room prior to a three night stay in a comfy cabin. Comfortable common areas and the theatre room showing an old but interesting Aurora doco was good. Breakfast basic but suitable. The restaurant/bar a walk across the parking area was good. Great location not far from the airport and free shuttle. If the aurora was showing it would be a perfect location but alas cloudy and snowing when I visited.
The breakfast was amazing, great selection and the area was beautiful to eat in. I would have extended the hours till about 11 instead of 10 because most people that wake up to see the northern lights in the early morning hours, wake up later. I also loved that the front desk did the aurora wake up calls and was called the first night I was there at 12am and it was amazing! The staff are great and the activities they have are great! Use the steam and sauna!!
The location is the best part of this hotel, close to Fairbanks international airport.
There's supermarkets Fred Meyer & Safeway around (2 mins drive & 5-8 mins walk) and gas station. 10 mins drive to downtown..etc.
The size of the room is great and plenty parking space.
There's washing machine and dryer (3 dollars each) you can purchase washing powder with reception (1 dollar)
The hotel had breakfast included. The rooms were small, but comfortable. The room was clean. Given the cost of hotels in Alaska during the summer travel season, the one-night price at $200 was not terrible given the circumstances. The hotel paid for the taxi service from the hotel to the airport.
Definitely a great place to stay! This was our first time in Fairbanks Alaska and although my girlfriend was a bit skeptical about staying in a hostel she absolutely loved it in the end! Would highly recommend! Super comfy and welcoming, feels like home. 10 /10!
Absolutely!!
I would like to recommend Sophia for everyone who visit in Fairbanks.
1/Shuttle pick up from airport for free .
2/Walking to Safeway from Sophia just 10 minutes ( snowing).
3/Cooking.
4/ The photos about the room is same which I saw from website
Very nice spacious room. Nice big bathroom. Has toiletries and towels. Parking and electric socket available for car heater. They gave pamphlets regarding where to see northern lights and other things to do which was helpful. Great breakfast. Had waffles!
Large room with private bathroom, kindstaff/owner. Outside downtown Fairbanks but there was a bus stop close to the building and you could easily walk to the center in about 20 mins. Close to "Pioneer park" (a little over 10 mins walk ?)
Personable staff. Amazing! I arrived early coming from another hotel but they completely tried to make me feel comfortable. Awesome staff! Awesome bed, just awesome for a single seasonal worker/traveler.

Comfortable mom-and-pop hotel literally at the end of the airport runway but surprisingly quiet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Easy drives to all of Fairbanks via the adjacent expressways.
The location was right in the middle of downtown Fairbanks. Couldn't have been better. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is within walking distance of a number of good restaurants.
