The staff were excellent! I left my iPad behind. They tried to contact me. I finally contacted them and they were holding my iPad for me eight days later when I returned to Reykjavik. So thankful!

The loaction of this hotel was perfect. Right on the street where all the bars and restaurants are, and not far of a walk to the harbour where I could go on the Boat Tours. Had a great view of the Hallgrimskirkta church tower as well. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.

The hotel is very conveniently located and has a free parking garage, the beds are super comfortable and the included breakfast buffet was very good.
Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

I was so impressed by the spaciousness of the room. The views were beautiful from the room's balcony. The bedding was very high quality and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were great. Everything felt very clean. Access to the building was very easy, but secure. The location is excellent - super central and great for walking. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy it all!

We loved the PERLAN museum--should not be missed. We also loved the Landnamssyningen Settlement Museum (built over a Viking longhouse). The Lava Show is an excellent and informative show. We also enjoyed the National Museum of Iceland.
Walking around on the waterfront as well as in the central shopping district was a lot of fun. We particularly enjoyed Thorvaldsens Bazar shop of hand knits and Kirsuberjatred (handmade art & jewelry).

Only a small city and easy to get round in a day.
Only a small city and easy to get round in a day. Excursions outside of the city that involve coach transport are, like everything else in Reykjavik, eye-wateringly expensive. The norm seems to be to hire a car which provides a signififcant cost saving. That's probably fine in the Summer but in February, when it's snowing heavily most of the time that isn't an attractive proposition. Make use of Happy Hour which runs from about 5pm to around 8pm. Beer prices are around half price then. Although that's still about £6.00 a pint. It is expensive but you know that before you go so there's no point moaning. 3 days was good, 4 would have been better. Choose a hotel as close to the centre as you can and one which is close to a collection/drop off point for coach transport if you don't fancy hiring a car. The buses have designated pick up points and if your accomodation isn't near one it can be a long walk. Use public transport for airport transfers (both ways) taxis are about £140.00 each way. The buses are approx £40.00. It's a brilliant and beautiful city, with friendly helpful locals. You might even see the Northern Lights. We didn't, due to the blizzards, but I'm assured they are there.

Nice town
Nice town
But, a lot of fast food .. burgers and fries or fish and fries.. not so many nice restaurants to visit.
The prices versus the food do not meet expectations!
6 dollars for a coffee, 250 dollars for a taxi ride early in the morning, or fish and fries for 20 to 25 dollars .. way too much for what you get.
If you have and disabilities beware some of the trails you will have a hard time since they are wet and rock or dirt,

Great short vacation.
Great short vacation. Very picturesque and suggest renting a car to see it all. Enjoyed the lagoons and the nature sightseeing . Food was very very expensive. Downtown area is good for walking through.

It's a perfect destination for female solo travelers.
It's a perfect destination for female solo travelers. The city is so safe and welcoming. Even outside the city, I felt so safe. Iceland is a little pricey, but there are many ways to maximize your trip without breaking bank. Shopping at grocery stores or at the 10-11. Guided tours are so helpful if you don't plan on driving. However if you are comfortable driving in all seasons (Iceland weather changes very drastically), I'd sent rent a car, buy wifi, and go adventuring. It's virtually impossible to get lost in Iceland, plus the views are worth the risk.

a small town, quiet and calm. very easy to get around, do not need any transportation, just by walking. could rain, snow and be sunny on the same day. One full day would be enough for Reykjavik. definitely join different tours to travel around Iceland. It was eye-opening! :)
Great place to stay in the heart of Reykjavik city centre. The apartment was spacious, very clean and comfortable. It is located on paid parking zone, but there were plenty of space to park your car, even in the high tourist season. A little tip for parking - park in zone P3 it is on 70-100m from the apartment, it is a way cheaper than P1.
In the apartment there is everything you need for you stay. Even in the city centre it was quiet and you can rest after long day of exploring and hiking in Icelandic nature.
As we do every time we visit Reykjavik, we book at Igdlo Guesthouse. It's a safe bet! Well located, 10/15 minutes from the city center and 5/10 minutes from the bus station where the "Airport Direct" shuttle arrives. Clean and well-maintained. What's more, the staff are very friendly and extremely responsive to the questions we asked beforehand by message. I can recommend without any hesitations! And I t’s not that expensive when you compare with other accommodations (everything is expensive in Iceland!)
This hotel was in the perfect location in downtown reykjavik. Walkable to a lot of restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. Main airport in Keflavik was about an hour taxi ride. Hotel staff was friendly. Rooms were comfortable, we had no complaints. You can hear the nightlife from the streets since you are so close to the bars, but that was expected, and the hotel provided us with ear plugs. Overall would definitely recommend!
The room was perfect and location was great! Room had an espresso machine, comfy bed, two windows, heat, a TV, and they provided converters for US plugs which none of the other places I stayed in Iceland had. It was easy to walk to downtown Reykjavik from the guesthouse, but far enough out of the main drag that there was always parking in front. The bathroom was modern and comfy bathrobes were a nice touch.
Eric the Red Guest House was amazing - the location was perfect being close to the church, downtown, cafes, restaurants, and right next to a tour bus stop. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The staff are friendly, communicative and easy to contact. Kitchen facilities were great to keep things cheap(er). This isn’t a big hotel, it’s much nicer - more like a homestay or bed and breakfast.
The location is amazing, specially if you plan to go on tours because the bus stop 12 is just in front of the hotel. Breakfast is very good, a lot of food and with great quality. Good bed, amazing temperature inside the room and also nice bathroom with everything you need. The staff is very nice. I would totally recomend this hotel if you want to stay in Reykjavik. 10/10.
The location is good, very close the center, you can do it walking.
The staff was very welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. The best!
The slice of cake and the free coffee is just great after a walking day. The room was enough for, confortable and warm.
Is a very nice cozy place to stay in Reykjavik
For me it was perfect because it's cheap (compared to other accomodations in Reykjavík), it's located directly in the city center and the bus stop isn't far away. It's also clean, which is always one of the most important points for me. I would definitely stay there again, if I come back to Reykjavík!
The property is in a brilliant location. All of downtown Reykjavik is within an easy stroll. The apartment we had was clean and well equipped, with very effective underfloor heating. The hotel restaurant was lovely and the bar opposite was lively and fun. All in all a great place to stay.
This 3 bed room apartment is perfect for 4 of us, it is very clean, quiet, comfy with everything we need. The location is very convenient that is close to the bus terminal to the Airport, and also to downtown of Reykjavik, all in walking distance.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Reykjavik city centre.
Perfect location
Breakfast was so good! I definitely recommend including breakfast during your stay.
Very clean and peaceful ambience, even greeted with a cool jazz ensemble upon arrival!
Central location, close to bus stops and walkable through downtown Reykjavik. Nice breakfast included with the stay, and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel has a dedicated pick up spot for tours and shuttles.
The location. It is the best. All our tours picked us up at bus No 8 which is about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. It is also at the entrance of the downtown center. One could not find something better located.
A very simple guesthouse, away from the city center. The amenities were just acceptable. Nothing special but I guess we got what we paid for (it was the cheapest guesthouse in Reykjavik at the time)...
Beautiful home with hot tub and custom built hot sauna. The owner was very nice and helpful. This home is a wonderful place to stay just outside of downtown Reykjavík.
Incredible hotel! Close enough to downtown Reykjavik, but in the outskirts with amazing views ofvthe beautiful Icelandic landscape. Would definitely stay again!
