I love the free coffee and tea from this hotel. Nice friendly staff. The hotel sits in front of a lake. Boating and kayaking are free for guests but it was too cold for us. Free laundry service was definitely a great plus for our 18 day trip. We spent 2 nights here to go to Grímsey which was very convenient because it is a short 20 minutes drive to Dalvík to catch the ferry. Walking distance to the public pool and sauna. Beautiful Mountain View all around. The very best part was the free use of their professional kitchen. I was so happy to make some meals there!!! Great value and can’t wait to come back!!!
These Northern Iceland wooden bungalows are 50 minutes’ drive from Akureyri. Each has a private terrace with an outdoor hot tub and mountain views of the Tröllaskagi Peninsula.

Lovely little hotel, in wonderful little place. I was the only person there the first night. Is so peaceful. My room was lovely and cozy. Perfect for my trip to see the whales with North Sailing and horses at Akureyri Riding Tours. Which was just down the road. I will definitely be back here.

This was the only place (except in Reykjavik) where we met the host. I appreciated that. Of course we traveled for the scenery, but I also wanted to meet Icelanders. Olafsfjordur was also close enough to visit the surrounding area, and, gee, the tunnels were an experience also.

Looking back, I feel lucky that we ended (pretty much by chance) in Ólafsfjörður and not somewhere in the south. Driving is slow in Iceland so even just getting to Akureyri was a substantial trip but that's a constant in Iceland. Knowing what I know now, it was as good a base as any, and better than most. On our way back to the airport when we stopped by the locations of the so-called Golden Circle, with their hundreds of buses and their crowds, it felt bizzare. The main attraction of Iceland is that you can take a hike among the hills and, with just a little luck, have the whole valley for yourself (not counting the sheep). The neighboring Dalvik offers great horse rides (do look at Tvistur), the ferry to Grimsey, and more.

Ólafsfjörður is breathtakingly beautiful.
Ólafsfjörður is breathtakingly beautiful. It's home to some great waves and can be perfect for surfing. A perfect place to sit and study the light changing if you have a camera or some paints or just want to relax. Countless birds to spot too
We arrived earlier, so the staff made sure our room was made ready. Nice room, comfy bed, beautiful sitting area to dine in (no restaurant, but make yourself).
The hotel really goes above and beyond, they're so customer friendly oriented! They offer so many free things to use, for example: They have a pooltable you can use for free, even kayaks! You can grab fresh towels whenever you want and if you want new linen on your bed you only need to ask.. Also free coffee machine.
We stayed here for 4 nights with 2 adults and 1 baby. A baby bed and high chair was provided by the hotel next to the cabins.
The cabin is made entirely out of wood, this is very cosy. Hot tub is very nice to relax.
You can use all the facilities of the hotel for free (laundry room with washer & dryer, lounge area, coffee, kayak,...)
The cabin was clean but compact for 4 people. It's a cabin for two people. The location is great and the staff at the hotel (who also run the cabins) were super helpful during our stay. On a side note, the kitchen did not have a stovetop, it was a portable electric cooktop.
Manager or owner at the "hotel" where we checked in were indifferent. Under construction and looked dummpy
They had not brought out kayaks or boat yet, and seemed to care less. Views from room not as good as the pictures.
The beds are comfortable.
The bungalows are in a neighborhood with twinhouses in Ólafsfjörð, with in a 5 minutes walking distance to the local pool and the school playground.
The pool is really nice and well kept.
It is a wonder place. The settlement, Ólafsfjörður, is an amazingly located alone, but the small wooden houses add to the experience. It was everything and even more. The hot tub is a must!
Convenient location. Facilities are on the older side comparing to other places we stayed in Iceland. But everything is clean and well functioning. Cabin is small for family of 4.
