Large hotel with a large room (by Japan standards). Room had a good view of the sorrounding hillside. Shuttle bus to and from the station was very convenient. The onsen was good. I had a massage at the spa - it was expensive but good...B'fast was strangely in a banquet hall - but had a reasonable variety including some western b'fast options.

Great location, good onsen, wide and clean room
Great location near convenience store, expressway exit, Echigo Yuzawa station and other Yuzawa sights.
We stayed during Golden Week, and the hotel still had a lot of guests. English laminated instructions were provided, and payment by credit card was available.
They also had microwaves near front desk, drink vending machine and refrigerator near elevator. Lawson (convenience store) was walking distance down the road.

It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

A ski resort town just an hour away from Tokyo, the bus terminal side of the station got a good old Japanese vide to it, and the back is more tourist centric, the closest resorts, gala, and Kogen is smaller than expected with crowed narrow runs, but with a 20 mins bus ride you can get to kagura, which is a bit old but with wide and good runs of all difficulty, and you don’t need to wait for any lift

I go to Yuzawa during winter.
I go to Yuzawa during winter. Naeba is my go-to place for snowboarding. It has excellent slopes for beginners, and also some tight curves for the more advanced. It's a little village, public transport is reliable but not frequent; so make sure to check the time table.

Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great. Japanese style breakfast with many choices to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was the futon style beds on the floor. I just had knee surgery in March and getting off the floor in the morning was difficult. Staff very friendly and spoke english.

Excellent visit.
Excellent visit. New finds were a) spaghetti restaurant within station called Uonuma Italian Grill & Dining. Best spaghetti I've ever recall having b) electric-assisted bikes for rent next to station. Critical given the hills in the area. And priced very reasonably. I was able to tour the town for the first time.
Good food, near slopes, near bus stop
The food was good, more western food than Japanese food. We had grilled chicken for dinner and you can get your own rice from a large rice cooker. Breakfast was eggs, bread and corn flakes.
The place is close to the slopes and the bus stop, around 5 minutes walk. The layout of the hotel was thoughtful, the ski/snowboard room was just at the entrance of the hotel. The boots room, changing room/bath was also just near the entrance. The waiting area at the upper floor was also comfortable.
Location from the Ropeway was excellent! Short 15 min cab from the train station in Yuzawa. The breakfast was great! Nice common area to make a simple dinner and change into your ski gear when you arrive early or checkout and want to ski the afternoon. The owners are a husband/wife/kids and were very friendly. We had an issue with another guest at the hotel and they made a mistake, but made up for it with a free bottle of sake for us!
The property was serene and very comfortable. We admire the traditional Japanese style and concept of this property. It had numerous areas to enjoy, such as their lobby which served coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, their restaurants that offered course meals for breakfast and dinner, their private and public onsen, and many more. The room was very spacious and clean. It was very peaceful.
Exceptional service, felt very cared for, huge rooms and super clean too. Had great views of the snow and mountains, and private Onsen available upon booking! The property only has a few rooms (relative to other hotels in the area), so it was homely and not crowded. Free shuttle from hotel to airport and only short walk/drive to the rentals and slopes. Will definitely come back
The friendly staff ..the old couples ( might be the owner) very nice to us informing about the shuttle service n lend us the kids shovel n sled for free.
Big toilets n big rooms. Bus shuttle for free and you need not to worry to go to the ski resorts n back to hotel. Just don't be late with the timings.
The hotel is 3 mins walk to Lawson .
I had very low expectations but i’m quite surprised that we enjoyed our stay. Massage chairs, Public Onsen, Pingpong tables and a Family mart right next to the property. Our kids loved the bunk beds while us adults stayed on the floor with futons. Pillows are great. We actually can’t wait to go back Yuzawa and stay here again.
A great place to wind down and calm your mind. The onsen facility is very good. We tried both the private and public spaces. Love the outdoor onsen experience. The hotel has a very lovely lounge with free coffee, tea and snacks. The location is near the train station, comfortable walking distance.
Very relaxing. Unlike other Japanese hotels where the staffs keep bothering you about what you need or that you can’t do this or do that, Sierra Resort Yuzawa was very relaxing with nobody bothering us. We felt free and relaxed. All of us really enjoyed the hotel and would love to go back there again.
The owners were really kind and helpful! The breakfast was also on point and I enjoyed it a lot. My room was spacious and it was nice to Japanese-style hotel experience. Overall, the price is really good for what you get at the hotel as long as you are okay with shared toilets and baths.
The price was very low for the size of the room, which was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was clean and the beds were cozy. The kitchen was large and pretty well equipped. The location was great: close to many ski resorts, onsen, convenience stores, and a big supermarket.
The location is great. It was close to the Gala ski resort (it's a 10 minute walk to the ski resort. it's much better to take the hotel shuttle). The Kaiseiki dinner was delicious. The view from our tatami room was beautiful. the hot spring bath house was good.
Good value. Staff very helpful and nice. The public onsen in hotel was spacious and nice. Rooms are simple and clean. We stayed in the Japanese tatami room. Shuttle to Gala Yuzawa Ski resort stops in front of hotel. Line up early as the shuttle can fill up fast.
If you are up there for skiing then you can find a better place. In and out Ski. Slopes and the lift is right outside the hotel, if you want to take a break you can always come to the room. You can rent the locker to store your ski gears near the reception.
The room was very spacious and clean, and I had a nice view towards the station side.
The onsen was very relaxing after a long day of hiking.
The pick up and drop off at the station was great and efficient.
Staff were all very polite and attentive.
The hotel had provided free shuttle to fetch us. We approached the JR tourist info counter to phone the hotel for the shuttle and it arrived in 5 mins. And the dinner and breakfast provided was excellent! The onsen facilities was good.
The hotel room was very comfy, service was great, outdoor onsen was amazing, buffet bf and dinner were good. Very clean and thoughtful they even provide yukata and slipper to wear for onsen. Will come back and stay again for sure :)
super clean at all times, spacious, new and renovated bathrooms/rooms, free laundry, friendly staff, 7 minutes on foot to ski resort, entry ticket to free onsen every night. you can add a breakfast+ dinner meal plan for 2000 yen.
The hotel was located inside the ski resort. It was quite a struggle to get to the actual slope (there was so much snow), but the view from our room was breathtaking.
All the staffs were extremely helpful and accommodating.
Awesome traditional Japanese breakfast everyday with slightly different menus. Superb shared onsen if you are not shy. Good rental equipment with complimentary shuttle service to nearby ski resorts!
