Great experience and a fantastic opportunity to participate in a morning prayer. Lovely people and the rooms looking out onto the garden was amazing.

Situated just 38 km from Kishi Station, 高野山 宿坊 普門院 -Koyasan Shukubo Fumonin- features accommodation in Koyasan with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a lift. This is the best value for memories that we have experienced so far in Japan. From the moment you enter: the guidelines are clear but kind, the staff are welcoming, and the peacefulness surrounds you. If you're physically able, we recommend booking one of the traditional tatami mat rooms for a fuller experience. The food leaves you feeling full but not heavy as it's vegetarian. The whole space is very clean. Certainly get to the main hall early in the morning for a calm beginning to observing the monks' morning sutras. They will hold luggage pre and post check in/out, so explore the town of Koya San. The nearby temples and especially the cemetery warrant about 1 hour each to fully experience them. The Yukata traditional loungewear they provide may (and is encouraged to) be worn everywhere except morning prayers. The onsen within the building is open after dinner until ~9pm. Check it out. Make sure to wash yourself within the onsen room before entering. Lastly, read the information they provide to you the day before your check in so that you are prepared and respectful.

Situated in Koyasan in the Wakayama region, 宿坊 光明院 features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. Dinner had so many vegan dishes and they were delicious. Breakfast was smaller but still filling. It won't be a western breakfast. The futon ended up being comfy and warm but the halls were cold in the morning. I suggest arriving at the start of check in to take full advantage of everything there is (enjoying the pond, onsen, tea in room while reading the info on ceremonies). Location was great for the big 3 sites, if you don't mind walk 20 minutes in either direction.

Nice atmosphere, welcoming host, beautiful temple grounds. The room was lovely and the heater in the room worked very well. We got a window view of the street as it was snowing, so it felt magical. Very close to the cemetery.

Set in Shirahama, within 200 metres of Shirahama Beach and 1.2 km of Ezura Beach, Shirahama no Yado Daigo offers free WiFi throughout the property. The owner of the hotel was really kind and did her very best to help us with all our preparations for hiking the kumano kodo trail. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located right near the beach and nice restaurants and cafes.

Koyasan is the most magical place in Japan and at Rengejoin you can enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to sleep in a museum-like place where Michelin star level food is served.

Located just 12 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, Minshuku Sumiya features accommodation in Tanabe with access to an open-air bath, a bar, as well as a housekeeping service. Host is very frindly and nice place very clean place good taste dinner and braekfast. If you plan to travel around koyasan area this place is good for you because this location is perfect.
