Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. Lovely food, staff, baths, own private dining room, meticulous service and very clean area. I think it’s almost impossible to top in those regards. The room with its own hotspring was divine. The massage was excellent. Would recommend.

The host Natsuhara-san really went above and beyond for me, he is very kind. The cleaning ladies who come in the morning are also very kind and we did our best to communicate through the language barrier. Overall I had a great time! It's very close to Hikone Castle and in the historical town area so it's easy to see the attractions.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. We loved the bath on our balcony and the traditional Japanese style room. There was a lovely garden and terrace and the staff were very welcoming. The buffet breakfast was a wonderful way to finish our stay.

Centred around a peaceful Japanese garden, Tobaya Ryokan offers traditional rooms with air conditioning, an LCD TV and shared baths. It is a 20-minute walk from Hikone Castle and provides free... The location was walking distance from Hikone castle - which is a must see. We were also able to walk down to the Hikone Harbour which had a nice sunset. The facilities such as the onsen and toilets were well kept. The rooms themselves were surprisingly spacious. The host was very friendly and kindly offered to give us a lift back to Hikone station.

Yumotokan Hotel offers comfortable Japanese-style rooms with views of Lake Biwa. It features indoor and open-air hot-spring baths and free shuttle service from JR Ogoto Onsen Station. Everything was as stated but the food was incredible! So good, so well made, so nicely presented, just wonderful:)

Located in Hikone, Kiyotaki Ryokan offers Japanese-style accommodations, Japanese home-style cooking and free Wi-Fi, a 20-minute walk from national treasure Hikone Castle. This was probably the best accommodation I had so far. It is true when they say - the further you go from the big cities, the more sympathetic and kind people you meet. I was very skeptical about my stay in the ryokan, as the pictures were not that promising and the price was quite low. As well as the city of Hikone is not that big (probably it is a small town area). But when I came in the evening after a full-day trip, I saw a very well made accommodation, exceptionally clean and a host, who met me with a very warm greeting! He showed me all of the facilities and we had a nice chat. I should admit - it is very important when you are coming late and plus to that you are alone. Later he offered me a dinner and I was more then amazed by how tasty and big it was for that price! I had 5 or more dishes (do not remember exactly as there were a lot), prepared on a beautiful tableware. I really felt like I was home. The lobby area was probably repaired - as it has nothing similar with the photos from the booking.com. Now it has a very clean and light colored design. It was visible from the first sight, that the host treats the hotel as if it was his own house, greeting everyone with open arms and heart. I would dream to meet such hosts in Kyoto, Osaka and other big cities. But so far, I met the best host in Hikone town. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the host-just found his name now.
