Centrally located near the train station and fish market. The hotel may look aged but the service is top rate especially the ladies serving the meals. The hotel is very organised. It has a decent in house Onsen or you can request to use the cave onsen on the island. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were very very good !

Great Japanese style room of good size. So close to the station. The dinner meal was spectacular. Our best meal while in Japan. A great place to finish walking the Kumono Kodo trail.

Rooms at Nakanoshima Hotel have a traditional decor and come with both Western-style and Japanese-style seating areas. Guests sleep on futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are air-conditioned and include an LCD TV, an en suite bathroom, green tea and Yukata robes.

We had a group of 5 people and stayed in the Deluxe family room. Everything was clean and prepared for our arrival and the staff showed us around all of the facilities and explained everything to us in English as we did not speak much Japanese, Not all of the staff spoke English, however anytime we had a query that required it they would always help us to speak with someone who did which was extremely helpful. The room itself was extremely spacious and came with 2 large beds and 3 tatami beds that were setup for us when we went for dinner. The room had all of the amenities that you could need and also gave each person a yukata and sandals that could be worn around the entire site. The balcony overlooks the bay and other areas on the island and is very beautiful, particularly at sunrise and sunset. The food for both dinner and breakfast was exceptional. The staff were extremely attentive and explained each of the courses to us in English and were always on hand for even the smallest request. There is a fantastic walk on the top of the island that is accessible via the main lift and is a brilliant spot for photographs or just to relax in the quiet although the staff explained that it is closed when it is dark so make sure not to miss out on it if you are interested. The site has both indoor and outdoor Onsen's which are rotated between Men and Women each day. These were extremely well kept and have all of the necessities for showering beforehand etc. These were absolutely the highlight of the accommodation and I would thoroughly recommend that everyone uses them at least once during their stay. The boats to and from the mainland can be arranged with staff up to every 15 minutes and they can also arrange a free taxi shuttle service from the dock to the train station nearby I would also just like to mention about how exceptional all of the staff were. We felt welcome from the moment we set foot on the boat to the moment we stepped back off it.

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags are included in each. Rooms come with a private toilet but bathrooms are shared.

The hotel was quite massive and dated, and truthfully, i was initially sceptical as I disliked huge hotels that are always frequented by tour groups, but this hotel proved me wrong. Despite the number of people we saw every day checking in, there was more than enough space for everyone, on top of that I actually found that despite the hotels age, all the deco and everything else added to the overall charm of the place which I ended up throughly enjoying. They even had a Lawons on site for convenience! Rooms were spacious, clean, and functional with daily amenities like toothbrushes and shavers, etc. We stayed in the main building and had views out to to the bay, which was quite amazing. The highlight was their various onsens, which were phenomenal, especially the cave ones where you can hear the sound of waves crashing. Indoor ones were great as well with ample space for everyone. Go late or before breakfast, and you'll have the indoor ones all to yourself, which i did on multiple occasions and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Oh, don't forget to try their space walker (escalator) that takes you up to the highest building, the whole ride takes you 5mins45sec and I think it's supposedly the longest or highest in Japan?

All rooms are Japanese-style rooms with tatami (woven-straw) flooring, futon bedding and an ocean view. Each comes with a TV, a seating area and an electric kettle. Free toiletries and hairdryers are also available in rooms.

The hotel is about 20 min walk from the train station but they have a free shuttle which made it perfectly convenient. It was absolutely worth being slightly further away as the hotel is located on a small cove which feels like you have private access to the sea and gives beautiful views from the rooms! There is an indoor and outdoor onsen (natural hot spring baths) both with lovely views and a comfortable temperature, with complimentary amenities. We had breakfast and one dinner at the hotel and everything was delicious, generous portions with attention given to seasonal and local produce. They were also able to cater to our dietary requirements (pescatarian and scallop allergy) well. At one point one of our party suffered a burn (NOT the hotel’s fault) and the staff were so helpful in providing us what we needed and were very kind.

Boasting a spacious garden overlooking the Kumano-Nada Sea and the gentle mountains along the coast, Yado Kayuu features hot-spring baths, a summertime outdoor pool, tennis courts and Japanese rooms with sea views. Traditional Kaiseki Japanese cuisine is available for dinner.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We arrived after the hotel restaurant had closed and the manager was so concerned that we wouldn't have something to eat for dinner that he personally drove us into town to a local restaurant. Our Japanese style room was relaxing with a beautiful view and by the end of our very short trip to Taiji, it felt like the staff were our good friends. Looking forward to returning.

The location right in front of the water & only 10 mins walk from Kii-Katsura station. The facilities inside the hotel. It has indoor & outdoor onsen, sauna, manga corner & cool down area. The staff were super friendly & helpful. The room with tatami mat was super comfy & roomy. Just being in the room is relaxing & feels like a holiday.

The owners and staff were very helpful and friendly. The place was kept clean and facilities were nice to use. I enjoyed the onsen (can be reserved in half hour intervals). The futons provided were very comfortable and I had the best sleep. The location was walking distance from the popular tuna market and auction along with many other restaurants. I wish we stayed here longer!

It is very clean! And right across from the station. The individual bed sections offer great privacy. The onsen (hot springs) across the train station is great. There is plenty to see in this "maguro" city! Great WiFi.

Three of us shared a large room with a separate toilet and separate bathroom and a small alcove for luggage plus a balcony. Lovely to have a view and to hear the sounds of the ocean. The yukatas were very pretty, the onsen spa facilities were good, the buffet breakfasts and dinners were excellent and varied.

I stayed here for two nights and had a great big room all to myself. Parking was available down the road from the property. Futon was comfortable. There was a cute onsen on the ground floor. Everything was lovely and clean. No laundry facilities but coin laundries were nearby.

We arrived late and the owner was accommodating after we sent a message. The futons were comfy and we didn't have any issues with noise as everyone was considerate. I also enjoyed the private onsen the second night as it was fully booked the day before.

The property had an onsen. The room was a traditional tatami room with futons to sleep in. We needed to have luggage moved to another guest house as we were trekking, and the weight of our backpacks would have slowed us down. The guest house staff arranged for a transport company to collect out packs the next day and it arrived at the destination the same day. Brilliant service and so grateful for their help.
