How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There are many hole of mosquito net. Stair of bed is little bit steep.
Staffs were very friendly and I felt welcomed. I arrived there 10am. It was very early to check in but staff made me very comfortable. "We are cleaning. As soon as finish you can go to bed" Although I could check in 3PM, I was good.

The property is really cool with the pool and flowerished garden. The Zambian dinner was excellent and the staff very professional and welcoming (Teresa and her colleagues).

Bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner but were perfectly fine
Lovely atmosphere and clean rooms with fan. Loved the free pancakes and communal areas. Wifi good enough to make video calls from in the communal space. Food was great value and very tasty. And access to on-site driver/taxi was incredibly handy

Welcoming, friendly and helpful team; the backpackers is located in a very spacious garden area in a safe neighborhood with shopping and eating facilities in walking distance. Very nice terrace and lounge area to hang-out and meet other travellers.

A tad distant from Luskas central, airport/bus station. Dorm at times was crowded. No lockers provided
Most spacious with, verandah,, grounds, pool. Staff, all polite, helpful and friendly. A well stocked menu, both food and drink. Walking distance to a mall

No lockers provided in the dorm rooms and the door to the room was always open - so security could be improved.
This is an excellent hostel. It has large grounds, a nice pool and a great bar and food. The beds also have mosquito nets which is great. There are also two very friendly dogs, and one of the moves the tail a lot and they are great fun. There is a cat too which you can stroke for free. The Wi-Fi was excellent

The wifi didnt reach all rooms, so to have a stable connection I needed to go to the common area, where it was fine

Dorm rooms simple. A little crowded but not bad.
Awesome staff - shoutout to Theresa and Justin and Laura and everyone who were super kind and friendly and helped answer my many questions about Lusaka and my future travels and were very accommodating with my departure in the middle of the night. Nice pool, outdoor area. Exceptional value with a nice complimentary breakfast. Nice location.

The only downside is that WiFi in some rooms further from the main area isn't stable.
Great location close to a mall, nice pool area, clean rooms, good place to meet fellow travelers. Staff very helpful, especially Laura, Miriam and Teresa.

Very friendly staff prepared to help out with anything. Very clean. There happened to be a wonderful show around the pool on the evening I stayed. Very pleased that they had designated the main reception area no smoking since the previous time I stayed. Beautiful well tended gardens. Nice pool which is kept clean.
