Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaI stayed for 5 days and every morning I felt like those staff on the breakfast shift saw us more of a hindrance.
Location and beach were excellent. Breakfast was also really good with some hot food included. Staff for the most part were really friendly.

Australia- While the resort is just by the water/ shallow reef, during low tide the whole area in front of the resort becomes dry and therefore not really usable for water activities (however, there is a swimming pool at the resort which could be used for a swim). - Wifi is only available in the restaurant area and is quite weak. - Transport for tourists is almost a scam in Vanuatu - you will be often charged for multiples of the actual local rates. There are drivers waiting just in front of the resort, or the resort can arrange transport for you, but the price charged is 2 to 5 times the actual local rates, e.g.: if you walk up the road and flag one of the taxis driving by you can negotiate 1000-1500 vatu for a trip to the airport, while the resort and the drivers in front will ask you for around 3,600 vatu; transport to the city would normally costs 150 vatu per person, while the driver in front of the resort could ask you easily 1000 vatu.
Overall the stay was pleasant, the staff is nice. Bungalows are fairly basic, but ok if you do not expect high-end luxury of a 5 stars resort; I really liked the outdoor bathroom/showers. Vanuatu was recently hit by cyclones, businesses are making their best to recover.

AustraliaThis is not Breakas fault however be careful if you suffer from asthma or respiratory problems as the locals outside the perimeter burn their rubbish every night, and the roosters wake you up from 4am. Not the resorts fault.
The staff were incredibly friendly, the resort was well maintained with great views and good food.Easy to catch a local bus to the city of Port Vila

AustraliaAC would make a stay in the warmer months more comfortable.
We had a really lovely time at Breakas. Perfect distance from Port Villa to feel isolated and enjoy some peace and quiet yet close enough to venture in at very little expense and time. Great central distance from some of the main tourist must do's and 30 mins from the airport. Not having to deal with squealing kids in the pool was a bonus.😃 Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Just remember its island time, so chill. The Itallian chef on site is a Master. Every evening meal we had was divine. Happy hour from 5pm and then on to our beach front dining each evening never disappointed. We loved our little garden view Bure. Very comfortable and suits the environment. A real Island escape. If you need a TV , WiFi in your room and AC this isn't the resort for you. We loved it though. Got to turn off and chill out. Met some great people here as well.

AustraliaWe were in room 58 (furthest towards the back of the property), it was very noisy during the night from dogs barking, roosters and locals walking down a track right next to the room. Locals burnt rubbish, including plastic not far from the room too. Nothing the resort can do about this, but it wasn’t pleasant. Getting service for food and drinks is very hard at this resort. The staff are very friendly, however, you have to work hard to get their attention to make orders for food and drinks. Even approaching reception, it takes ages for them to acknowledge you standing there. Mistakes were also common with drink/food orders too, and we only ordered 1 drink each at a time - the correct ones were written down, however somehow the wrong ones were given to us. Sometimes the staff would take orders without writing them down, which essentially resulted in the order never being delivered. Overall, I expected a lot better service for the price we paid to stay at the resort.
The location was beautiful, located right in the beach. The view from the tables around the pool at dinner and breakfast were amazing.

AustraliaPort Vila is the epitomy of "laid back". Breakas is about 10k from Port Villa over a terrible road although, it was graded while we were there, and I'm told they intend to seal it soon, which could mean next week, next year or never.
The beach bungalows have louvered windows (no glass), are well screened and have ceiling fans making them comfortable and well suited to the humid conditions. Staff are delightful, and will go out of their way to help. Small busses ( B- number plate) regularly pass by, just wave one down. They will take you to where ever you want to go in town for around 150 VUT.

AustraliaNo aircon or wifi in the Fares. Somebody (not the hotel's fault) needs to seal the unsealed section of the road in to town.

AustraliaReally needed parasols near the sun loungers as it was too hot to sit in the sun without one. I know they are expecting them soon and hopefully they will get them sooner. Definitely a big must have!
