Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe property is a bit “tired” and could use some freshening up.
Fine for a one night stay before flying out early. Property is a bit tired but compared to most places on the island, very reasonably priced. Good location if you are taking the ferry from Charlotte Amalie or flying out of STT. Room had decent A/C, clean shower and beds were fine. A budget hotel so not 5 star facilities but adequate. We would stay again for one night.

United StatesClean, but very basic. The neighborhood around was a bit rough even though the next street was the main shopping street of Charlotte Amalie. But that’s how it is in Charlotte Amalie.
Well located if you want to stay in Charlotte Amalie. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful.

MexicoIt was a little bit more basic for the price than I expected. But the room was clean enough and the a/c, the ancient window unit, worked ok. I think it would be nice if they replaced the windows so I can let light in even when they're closed since they have to be closed when the A/C is on.

United StatesKind of dirty in places, very old pillows and mattress in the room I rented. The area of town is not the greatest, and multiple times I heard people arguing and fighting at an adjacent property. That could have been an isolated incident, and like I mentioned the property itself is gated.
The host/owner is very personable and kind. It’s gated, so there is that added measure of security. As the name implies, the location is essentially central.

United StatesThe property itself is old and a little shabby. Despite being located just off the main shopping area, the surrounding neighborhood is rundown. There are no elevators in the building, and it was difficult hauling our suitcases up and down stairs and ramps. We could not watch the TV because of some sort of problem with the wi-fi connection. The cafe was closed the weekend we were there, but I was also told by my daughter that it served good food and that the owners were very pleasant and helpful. If you are staying in St. Thomas and are on a tight budget, I would recommend Midtown Guest Hotel. Otherwise, you may want to consider spending a bit more on a hotel that has some amenities and modern updates.
I appreciated that the owners tried to spruce up an old hotel using fresh paint, plants and artwork to make it as cheery as possible. This is a basic, budget hotel with no amenities, but it still met our needs for an overnight stay. The room was nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. You can easily walk to restaurants and the main shopping areas as well as several of the sightseeing areas.

United StatesMidtown Guest House is a quaint hotel literally right around the corner from the historic district and fancy shops in Charlotte Amalie. There's plenty of food nearby as well as the Safari Bus, or taxis, for getting out and about. For the price it was a great value. I stayed there with my husband and four year old for three nights. The hotel itself is simple, not fancy, could use updating, I guess, (I'm not sure how realistic that is however due to how expensive everything actually is in St. Thomas (!!!) and while we stayed there it looked like renovations were being made in one of the rooms), but the staff is very friendly and there's tons of tropical plants around that make the space homey. Our room was simple, few in room amenities, with comfortable beds. Because the hotel is located in a city it can be noisy from street traffic or roosters. Travel with ear plugs or a sound machine; we did and we slept well through the night without disturbance. Great accommodation for backpackers or people who don't need a lot and for those with small budgets.

United Kingdom7 days was too long in the area without a vehicle (this is obviously no reflection of the guesthouse)- just a heads up for fellow travellers. We also were unaware that most places in Charlotte Amalie close at 6pm latest? Made for long nights.

United StatesUnfortunately the guest computer wasn't working. Also I do like my coffee strong and the comp coffee was not tasty enough. The window slat adjusters were broken so I couldn't open the slats and get in much light.
Location is perfect. Right by main shopping street, waterfront and restaurants. The owners are very friendly. Family atmosphere. Building is old, windows don't work, no elevator but for the price it is great.
