Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Casa Spa d’Alma was a tranquil idyll situated in the Algarve hills, but within an easy half hour car drive to the south coast, a bit longer to the west coast. Breakfast was simple but fulfilling.

They are informative about the local area. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful with local produce, fruit from the garden and cake!! Ah the garden... beautiful, peaceful... flowers, butterflies and birdsong. Our room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable, We used the well equipped outdoor kitchen every day. There are walks/runs from the doorstep into the Monchique hills. Local facilities - shops and restaurants are a short drive away..

Breakfast was fantastic. Manuela and Theo prepared homemade granola and fresh honey. Each day there was a different egg offering. Manuella’s home made banana or plum cake was also available. Theo gave great advice for nearby walks which were within a 10 minute drive.

GermanyThis beautiful little paradise is located between the mountains. It is very quiet, calm and relaxing. The lovely garden resembles an oasis with lots of lemon-, avocado trees, colourful flowers and little waterplaces. You can just sit in one of the hamocks, watch the wonders in Manuel‘s Garden and jump in the pool for a cooldown. Manuela and Theo are such lovely people, who are so kind and warm hearted. For breakfast homemade granola, most delicious plum cakes and marmalades from the garden is served. For dinner we cooked in the coutside kitchen in the sunset. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely come back to this peaceful place and to these two super sweet hosts Manuela and Theo. Thank you for having us!

NetherlandsI wouldn't change a thing!
I love how the abundant garden has been added to over time - esp the frog pond. The outdoor kitchen was perfect to spend time in nature and relax. The room had fly nets on the windows, bed was very comfortable and a desk for laptop work. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts, Theo and Manuela, were incredibly welcoming and accommodating - we will 100% stay again! Truly magical!

A beautiful B&B with an amazing garden in a stunning location. The pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen were great touches. Clean, large, comfortable air conditioned rooms, with big double beds. We did some lovely hiking in the area, with help identifying routes. Our stay was made all the better by the wonderful hosts, who were accommodating, kind, good humoured, very interesting people.

United KingdomCasa Spa D'Alma was in every way exceptional. To be honest it made the holiday for me. The serenity, glorious garden overlooking the 3 hills, relaxing in the pool and hot tub - my children loved it - the hammocks, the gentle sound of splashing water, the fruit trees, gorgeous flowers, Swallowtail butterflies, 100s of migrant birds flying overhead while I was swimming, just magical. I liked that nature was welcome. Our lovely hosts made us so welcome and were super telling us about restaurants, local knowledge, walks and beaches.

United KingdomThey charge an extra 5euros for use of the washing machine for one quick small wash. The accommodation is already on the expensive side and we would not expect this sort of extra for one partial load. Fortunately, we didn't need the tumble dryer! Be warned that there are no restaurants within walking distance. The nearest town, Monchique, has a fair selection of places to eat, from very basic and excellent value, to smarter more pricey establishments. The best meals were had in the more basic cafe/restaurants such as O Parque and O Ze. Monchique is only a 10min drive away.
Idyllic location and potentially beautiful garden with a huge diversity in fruit trees and flowers. Rooms are small but beds are comfortable and ensuite showers are supplied with plentiful hot water. More communal space is provided in the breakfast area for comfortable seating. Plentiful outdoors tables and chairs, small pool and a hot tub. There is also an outdoor communal BBQ area, gas hob, cooking equipment and a fridge. Breakfast was a good quality nut and seed granola, yoghurts, lactose free milk was no problem, fresh fruit some from the garden supplemented with some bought fruit, various bread/buns, a boiled egg, cheap ham and cheese, jams, and a wee sweet treat such as the local egg custard tart or a piece of cake. Something for everybody. Freshly squeezed orange juice from the garden, coffee machine and an assortment of teas. Obviously, if you're a tea drinker from the UK you know you need to travel with your own tea bag for a decent cuppa tea. An amble supply of filtered water was provided for drinking and topping up refillable water bottles. The accommodation is under new ownership; they are friendly and passionate about their new venture. The garden currently needs a little more love and care, which is only a matter of time for them as they settle in. Our stay was much enjoyed and Casa Spa D'Alma is recommended for the independent traveller.
