Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainI travelled very light because I was only here for a few days... but if you have lots of luggage our bad knees then be warned about the steep steps in the hostal! Also the barrio Alto is a hilly walk up from the centre.... so I know that some people would struggle.... but if you have the money to spend on a tug tug then there are plenty around the city!
Loved the location and the room was EXACTLY like the photos, I was delighted to be here and would definitely stay here again. the place was very clean and tidy and the manager very friendly and helpful. The perfect choice for people travelling on a budget and want to explore the city!

NetherlandsThe location is located next to a party neighborhood which can cause a lot of sound at night but if you are here to party and stay up till late then this place might be perfect for you. The place is not fancy but you get what you pay for.
The room was cleaned everyday and the staff were helpful and nice. The bathroom was shared but had all amenities available and was clean.

ItalyThe rooms/decor/sheets are very old/outdated, and the beds are not super comfortable. The windows were super tiny and the room was overall pretty dark.
The staff was very good, welcoming, they let us leave the luggage there on the last day before catching the flight. The area is so noisy, filled with erasmus places and people, but the windows are new and locked out most of the noise. There was also a ventilator provided.

SwedenVery noisy during nights.
Very central, relatively easy to find. Almost easy to check in (it took the lady at the reception a while to fill the form for me). Nice to be able to drink some tee during evenings.

AustraliaIt is pretty noisy at night but I’m a deep sleeper so it didn’t worry me. Accomm is nothing fancy, but has everything you need.. it kind of reminded me of my grandpas place, so it’s like having a night at your grandparents.

United StatesThe room could've been a tad but cleaner. I had to sweep my own floor, there was hair all over the floor. Also, there is no elevator. Don't bring super heavy luggage.
The location was good if you're looking to party. It was central located, food and drinks were walking distance. Don't stay here if you can't sleep with people partying all night. The owner was nice and the price was very affordable.

It was very basic but it was as expected with the price I paid. Really friendly staff even though they didn't have much English. Clean, safe and in a great location.

Polandthe balcony was actually just a barrier not to fall off the window ;) but it's typical for Lisbon (this is what they call a balcony, lol). hairdryer, furniture, etc. it was all super ancient. served it purpose but it's visible that the owner hasn't been investing in anything in the property like for 50 years. reminds me of travels in Poland during communism period when there was nothing at shops. but all in all it's ok, because it works. the time to check out is also pretty strict 11 am.
really nice neighbourhood. yes, loud at night but with earplugs, it's great. pretty run-down premises but clean and (3-bed room) specious enough. the location just great. in the middle of the city. close everything, to go sightseeing or partying. the owner explained in detail how to use the front door giving you the keys. (didn't speak English much though so it was hard to ask about anything). great privacy, nobody was asking any questions or troubling your guests. ;)

HungaryIt was nothing special, but it’s okay.
It’s a basic room, nothing special but it’s completely fine for a few nights. It’s a great value for this price, in a very central location. The bathroom is shared but there is a private toilet for the room which was a pleasant surprise.

United KingdomAs long as you appreciate that this is an old-style hotel everything is fine.
The hotel is in the heart of the busiest bars and restaurants in Lisbon, so don't stay here if you want quiet streets and no noise. There will be crowds outside the entrance every night. Earplugs are supplied but I didn't use them. I loved it; the atmosphere is buzzing with so many wine bars, places to get cocktails and eat.

If you are a solo traveler, who will need just a place to sleep, then definitely a good choice as it is cheap and clean. Just the location is in a busy area at night and if you can't sleep in noise then do not book it. In general for a solo traveler who needs clean place to sleep only with good price then yeah go for it
