Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe staff were great. Really helpful and accommodating when our flights were repeatedly cancelled. The food was also really tasty, I ate so much lobster I got sick of it.

JapanSome corners in the bathroom could be more up to date, no hairdryer, beach is beautiful but only some spots are good for swimming.
Amazing staff, incredible views from the deck, beautiful beach, nice rooms, in general very pleasant environment, good food. Dive shop on the premises can arrange tours and dives. Everything is very well managed.

United StatesBreakfast could have more variety, and the stuff that was available needs to be replenished more often. Natural juices would be nice too.
Free round trip airport transfer. Free town shuttle. And during mask festival, free shuttle. Great and convenient dive/tour shop on site. Nice pool. Friendly staff. Snorkeling is great right off the beach!

SwitzerlandWhen we arrived we were serenaded with some songs and fresh coconuts and for a moment we forgot we were there for work. This is a very welcoming place with lovely, smiley and attentive staff. The feeling is relaxed yet fully professional.

Papua New GuineaRooms The rooms are a little dated and tired. The beds and pillows are not soft and comfortable as you would expect for a resort. There is only one tiny bar of soap and a small plastic container marked "shampoo and conditioner" which are unacceptable complimentary toiletries for the price paid. I understand that most hotels are now moving towards sustainability which is great, so perhaps Rapopo should adopt what other resorts do worldwide which is have three permanent holders placed in the bathroom of liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner placed in the rooms for guest use which housekeeping can top up daily. Food The food was delicious and the portions were decent sized, however we thought the price of local dishes for food like Aigir was a bit expensive given the ingredients are all local. I was also very disappointed to find hair in the Aigir. That is a big no no, staff should wear hair nets. On one occasion because the lobster took longer to prepare, when they served both meals the steak was already cold. I suggest if you're not able to properly time the meals together serve the one that needs to be served first and bring the other meal out later. We would rather have one person eat first rather than both together and one with cold steak, that was very disappointing. Staff/records Although you shouldn't have to, if you are paying as you go, make sure to keep records of all your receipts. We were almost double charged because their records were not accurate and we had to produce our receipt to show we had already paid for the meal.
Staff We like that the staff are very friendly and prompt. Mark who picked us up from the airport was very cordial, Christine at front desk is exceptional and the housekeeping staff kept our room in tiptop condition. We also thought it was a nice touch with the welcome song and frangipani leis and kulau. When being served at meal times the wait staff were very prompt and courteous too. Location The location is perfect and has stunning views of the harbour and of Mt Tavurvur. We like also that because Rapopo is further out from the main town, they have two complimentary shuttle runs out to Kokopo Town. Food Delicious, portion sizes were decent and dishes like steak and seafood were reasonably priced.

AustraliaThe house white wine was not terribly good. It would be good to have vegan options on the menu - or at least just one!
The options for where to dine were good - the deck over the water is beautiful.

AustraliaWe arrived, got put in the most dilapidated run down hot and humid rooms. The kids were excited to go kayaking, but we were told they don’t offer that, by a member of staff stood right next to a sign offering kayaking!! There was rubbish all over the ‘gardens’ in the form of coke cans and chip packets. The route to our room took us past ladders and stores strewn about. The beach was dirty, the fish feeding involved the kitchen hand dumping the slop bucket off the veranda. Pieces of lettuce and large chunks of vegetables washed into the shores. Security guards drinking, letting off firecrackers at the gate, partying and being noisy at night. Broken missing windows, aircon blowing hot, none of the activities available, except the expensive outsourced ones, food orders getting mixed up and not arriving, waiting 90 minutes from child’s meal arriving until adult meal arriving, General confusion of staff and no accountability for anything.
Tasty food
