The location is exceptional if you want to be somewhere with good views and relax, isolating from city life The staff are extremely friendly and helpful The restaurants were good in terms of selection and food quality The amenities and activities were great and we didn’t need to leave the resort at all.

Food was surprisingly horrible and extremely over priced. Penne Arrabiata from room service wasn't edible, and for 28 usd... Restaurants all over the hotel were overpriced for the quality of the food offered. Although everything else was spot on, we definitely wouldn't consider returning just because of the food scene.

Amazing staff all over the hotel. Specially 'Said' from pool/beach area. Really goes above and beyond.

My stay was superb. The hotel was better than what I thought. When you go to the Middle East Region, I have experienced that hotels don't always look like the pictures they show but Shangri-la was true to what stated. The hotel is like a Palace, I loved the lobby and interiors. My room was spacious and more than fully equipped. They even add details like a hairband for girls, which was so handy because I had forgotten mine. This little details make the stay like at home. Plus I have no words for the staff, such lovely and kind people, both the manager and the rest of the team. They serve you like a king. Loved my stay and will definitely return. Ah and forgot, the location was majestic.

Large choice of restaurants from the 3 Shangri-La Hotels connected, but pricing is not justified. Buffet restaurant, for example, is good, but not up to the pricing (round 60USD per person). Restaurant pricing should be reconsidered in the three premises.

You never get wrong in a Shangri-La. A unique hotel with absolute benchmark guest experience. Specifically pointing out the very warm and authentic personal. The breakfast with view on the beach is a delightful experience. The rooms are large and let you feel that unique Shangri-La culture, no matter where in the World you enter their hotels. Definetlely a recommendation if you plan to go to Oman. Private Beach access from hotel.

At appertif hour it would be ideal to have a drinks menu. Staff have to tell you what’s available which it takes a long time. The cocktail mojito was terrible. For the price of the room I think they could have a mixologist. Or someone with more knowledge about cocktails. Also one thing that attracted us to the room is the pre drinks and canapés. We only got two tiny canapés each.

The surroundings are amazing. Very beautiful. Everything from the private beach and the staff were amazing. Lovely breakfast with ice coffee and smoothies and healthy shots

I reported to the front desk that I lost my nike cap during my stay but I didn't hear any feedback from your hotel.

The breakfast offers very good selection. The staff are very attentive, courteous and helpful. I love the hotel's private beach and spend my days on the beach throughout my stay. There are so many water activities eg: kayak, snorkling etc. I love watching the sunset from this beach too. One thing that bothers me is that the opening hours for evening cocktail in the courtyard was too short for me to enjoy. I hope the hotel management should review it as not everyone wants to have dinner in the evening. Sometimes, guests just want to chill and relax.

Coming back to our magical home! For my milestone birthday celebration, I decided against a massive party… instead I’m taking the year to spend time with people who matter, revisit places which have meant a lot to me and to tick some more things off my bucket list. The Al Husn at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah resort in Muscat was our dream escape for nine years. Other priorities took over, and this was our first visit back since 2015. I have written twice before about Al Husn, reproduced below. Those words remain as true today as they did when I wrote them. Except, of course, it’s worth noting the impressive new gym and Luban Spa, the new restaurants and the reworked afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks which are served in even more style! To be doing this, having emerged from the challenges of Covid, with rising costs and recruitment pressures, is a significant achievement and a blessing. Every member of staff played their part in delivering this magic, but the three most exceptional were: Mostafa the Front Office Manager, Mimouni Youssef the Chief Concierge and Prima at the Sultanah. And of course, hugely impressed that Zenna and Edcel at the spa and Yussef, the doorman who is now at Al Bandar all remembered us after such a long time! ********************************* First the one from 2007: Pure Magic! The Al Husn at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah resort in Muscat, Oman was always fabulous – luxurious accommodation in a stunning setting, located on the beach against breath-taking cliffs. But until now, service was a problem. This is no longer the case – it seems as if the new General Manager, Mr Shrestha, and his team have waved a magic wand and injected soul into the place. When management and every member of staff, whether at the resort’s extensive range of restaurants, at the dream-world Chi Spa or on the beach, consistently anticipate guests’ every need and deliver a truly memorable experience, then you have the perfect blend for a perfect holiday.
