Food needs to be improved. Also, heavier curtains would make guests sleep a few hours longer, preventing the sun's rays from illuminating the room at 6 in the morning

The staff is very welcoming, helpful and ready to support you. You would need a 4L car to reach the property and the dirt road to get there is part of the experience. They also provide a transfer in case you’re not driving a proper car. The location is impressive, right in front of the starting point of the balcony walk hike into the canyon. The real mountain experience, surrounded by nature and very friendly goats everywhere. The room is not so huge but fairly set up.

We enjoyed our stay so much, we can't think of anything that needs improving!

The location was nestled within a small village with incredible breathtaking views of the canyon that is right on the doorstep. The start of the 'balcony hike' was extremely close and I can't rate the views on the hike enough. The heritage home was comfortable and the food (especially the evening meals) was delicious. Mohsin and Nitish were extremely welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. They made the stay feel special and unique.

There was a helper there, I'm sorry we didn't catch his name, who was very pleasant and helpful and anticipated our needs even before we voiced it. The property is a little tricky to find but we asked and were given clear instructions. It was a great place to base ourselves and explore the area.

    Nothing! It was perfect!

Everything! We started with a heart warming welcome from Mohsin! We had a room with a very beautiful view, a nice and clean bathroom and a lot of space. The breakfast was served in the room because of ramadan and was very delicious! The dinner was as well very very delicious and a lot to eat! You start the balcony walk directly 5 meters away from the room and get a wonderful mountain experience! Nightsky, silence and lovely free living goats as neighbours, what could be better than this… Mohsin is making sure you get the best experience while staying there, assisting you with all you need! We would definitely come back next time visiting this country! If you miss this experience it’s a pity! Highly highly recommended! Take a 4x4 car to get there, with a normal car there’s a high chance of destroying something on the car or you might get struggles getting there (depending on the weather) Nothing else to add! It was amazing!

My only complaint is the cost of the transfer. It would have been really difficult to find the accommodation without the transfer, not to mention needing a 4x4. The transfer cost is astronomical, especially given that we had to share with other Sama hotel staff who were on their way down / up (but obviously we’d paid the full price).

Great one night stay, right at the beginning of the balcony tour. Mosin was really kind and helpful with everything we needed. We woke up early to start the hike at 6:30am before it got too warm and it took us about 3.5 hours, plus breaks for our packed breakfast. A guide can be arranged for the hike but I don’t believe it’s necessary unless you have mobility issues.

    Nothing - it was great!

Wow, what can I say about this gem of a hotel, other than amazing!! We arrived on Valentine's Day to welcome chocolates on the bed and the restaurant decorated subtly with lights and petals on the table. A lovely surprise after a long drive from the coast. We absolutely loved the setting of the hotel (which currently only has a handful of rooms, which looks straight out over the valley and is literally a few steps from the start of the Balcony hike. Waking up for sunrise was well worth doing- it was so special. Our mountain view room was full of character and the views were just to die for. There was a small heater to take the chill off in the evenings, and once the sun streamed in in the mornings, it warmed up naturally. The evening meals were absolutely delicious - SO much food! Tasty curry, dhal, veg, bread, humus, rice and more. And the breakfast was plentiful too - with hot and cold options. But what really made our experience was the personalised service by Mosin, the lovely guy who runs the place (and does pretty much everything!) He was so attentive whilst not being over-bearing and would literally drop everything to help you. When we returned from the balcony hike, he spotted us sitting outside looking a bit hot & bothered, so he produced the most refreshing glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice - bliss! As others have mentioned, we hired a 4×4 and were pleased we did. The roads are great fun, but I wouldn't advise using a sedan/low slung car (yes, it's probably do-able, but I wouldn't say advisable). We were also do an extra drive one day on a circuit around the Jebel Shams area, which was fantastic. Overall, if you're looking for a large corporate hotel with tonnes of extra facilities, then Sama Al Khutaim probably isn't for you. But if you prefer a small, characterful property with personal touches and service, then I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

The person in charge of the hotel , Moshi, was extremely nice and helpful. He makes everything on his hand to make your stay smooth and perfect. His food IS great too! The place is located directly in front of the canyon. The views are stunning.
