Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeing harassed by the manager was the worst part. I was sent numerous messages on my phone saying I had to give 10 as a review. A 10 has to be deserved and his way was just another way to be underscored.
The property is amazing and beautiful. The owner is so rightly proud of it and I think he has done a great job at preserving such a property. I really enjoyed it.

Old heritage house with several guest rooms. It's like living in a museum ! Our host, Raman was very kind and helpful. There is nice little cafe and restaurant in the house which also served our included breakfast. The house is located in the small calm town of Taqah, just in front of the Taqah Castle (that can be visited), the Afif Mosque, some nice restaurants, a supermarket and other small stores, close to the beach. And we could drive to some nove natural and cultural sites nearby. The room is a little small and the wifi was a littl;e weak but we're still giving this hotel a 10; don't change anything ! It was a fantastic experience. We would come back and we recommend this heritage house to everyone.

SwitzerlandWe loved this old family house, which is now a nice small heritage hotel. Our en-suite room was big, nicely decorated, very clean, the bed was comfy. Staff was very friendly, and particularly Mr Rahman at the reception was very helpful. The breakfast was served down on the terrace of the Café, and was delicious, with a lovely view on the castle, which is right opposite. WiFi and AC were functioning well. Free car park is available in front of the hotel.

QatarThe staff was very friendly and supportive. They (Rahman) provided a well-organised set of leaflets that included tourist attractions around Salalah. The hotel has an appealing classic look. If you are interested in 5-star treatment, it's not for you. But if you're a down-to-earth person, you'll enjoy your stay. I suggest you enjoy the view from the roof at night.

BahrainMy two-night stay at Koofan Lodge exceeded all expectations, leaving me with an extraordinary insight into Omani culture and a truly memorable experience. The hotel seamlessly blends traditional charm with modern amenities, creating a perfect balance that allows guests to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Oman while enjoying top-notch facilities. Facilities for instance entail: fast wifi and a good quality AC. Moreover, the receptionist Suhebar was always available to answer my questions and promptly assisted me whenever I needed anything. He also gave great recommendations, in which I was recommended Hammad Koofan, one of the tour guides. His extensive knowledge and passion for sharing Omani culture and history made the experience truly enlightening, not least to the the attractions he took me too and his strategy too for the tour. The restaurant downstairs Patria Cafe was also great and had amazing and tasty breakfast. The cafe also entailed great service too. Furthermore, the location is fantastic as it’s near Salalah and is located in Taqa, which is a traditional town. I honestly love the neighborhood, as it’s traditional, safe and as a bonus quiet. Walking around is absolutely amazing and going to see sunrise and sunset is one of the best things about this town, not least to its traditional buildings and museums with great views of the town too in the neighborhood allowing you to experience Oman’s rich culture and history. In conclusion, if someone would want to visit Salalah I’d highly recommend staying in Koofan Lodge due to the following reasons provided.

GermanyI had booked for three days but then prolonged for seven more because it is simply the nicest and most special place in Salalah area. Koofan Heritage Lodge is the place to go for visitors interested in heritage buildings and sustainable traveling. During daytime it serves as a museum and there will be the occasional visitor group being led through the house but always in a respectful and quiet way which is not disturbing at all. Suhebur, the on site manager, is a gem. Always helpful, smiling and happy to explain the museum items in English and even in German. The rooms are beautifully renovated and decorated in the traditional way and you get a feeling how rich merchants lived many decades ago. Taqah itself is a very friendly rather quiet beach town, close to incredible nature and geology and just a 20 minute drive from Salalah. A delicious breakfast is served in front of the hotel by a lovely little cafe. Absolutely recommended to spend a few nights at this special place!

UkraineAs it is an old building, it was hard to breathe and the room we had was dark and you can't open small window because of the mosquitoes. Breakfast was interesting but very small

GermanyThere is nothing!
Very special accommodation awaited us here, namely the Koofan Heritage House. This is a 150-year-old clay and stone house that has been carefully restored by the owner family. In the individual rooms, you will find numerous original artefacts and pieces of furniture belonging to the family from earlier times, which are beautifully displayed here. The house has 12 individually furnished rooms, a small souvenir shop, a café, a tour desk and a small museum. But the whole house is actually a kind of "open-air museum". While most visitors only come for the museum (admission 1 rial), we definitely recommend at least one overnight stay. A small, traditional breakfast is served in the morning. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to provide guests with an exceptional experience. The accommodation is just 25 minutes from Wadi Darbat and only 5 minutes from the sea. An absolute recommendation! Greetings to the staff from Marco and Nicole from Germany!

They showed us the hotel, explained it’s heritage and history, have a tour around the house. In general, made us feel very warm and welcoming. Location is good, room was very clean. Considering that this is an old building, they did good work providing modern facilities.

If you're seeking a unique and immersive stay that combines history, culture, and comfort, a heritage hotel is an excellent choice. United Arab EmiratesNot all the rooms have attached bathroom which i feel is a drawback. Even the existing bathrooms does not have basic amenities like hooks to hang clothes, no mirror, no proper latches to the door.
We were able to experience the rich culture of Omanis and the way they lived. The Hotel has been built considering the minute details of Omani Heritage.

CanadaOnly shared bathrooms appear to be available - but this is clearly stated in the booking process, and is not much of an issue.
Beautifully and carefully restored traditional house - like staying in a museum - in a good way. ;-). The staff and owner are extremely friendly, helpful and lovely people, and very interesting to talk to. The location is wonderful - directly opposite the fort and next to the castle. There is a very nice coffee shop attached to the hotel.
