Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThe location is the best and worst thing about this hotel. Best because it is a beach front property. Worst because the main oil refinery is at doorstep, because of which there can be a perpetual odor of sulfur hanging in the air. The hotel admin actually warn you to not open the windows in your room because of this.

SwitzerlandThe pool was nice (especially for kids). The food was good in all restaurants. Bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. If you rent a car, the hotel is a very good choice for Muscat.

United KingdomNeeded to be more eating options for young families - too many pubs or restaurants that did not serve dinner until after 6pm.
Great staff and cleanliness. Good facilities - swimming pools, beach access, gym, cafes

CanadaWe pretty much got very satisficed at this property. The pool is more of a family vibe. Like some children also around. if some people want absolute silence at the pool, that's not the case there, but you can mix it with the beach peacefulness in the morning or noon before it get's crowded in the evening. The pool design is not for a professional swim. It's simply for chilling in water and walking in it. So depends on your pool mood preferences; but as I explained, it can be combined with the beach experience just in front of the hotel and the hotel also has a some water sport activities to offer.
The room was wonderful. We loved the use of wood and art and architecture of this hotel inside the lobby, marvelous roof, and the room furniture. Gave a a mixed feeling of past and modern in terms of design senses. Beautiful lobby. Breakfast was overloaded with options. The reception were amazing and made it very easy and smooth for us. The hotel is just in front of beach. It was lovely we could open back gate with our key and visited the beach as well for some peaceful swim. The location of the hotel is also great. Just front of it is the opera, and like 2 min walk away is a little neighborhood front of sea with many cafes and restaurants to chill and get a wonderful glance of Muscat peaceful vibe. Hotel workers are wonderful and nice. Hotel got padel, tennis, gym, water activities, and a sport club. So you got some options to explore. and couple of restaurants inside the hotel.

Saudi ArabiaBreakfast buffet and Club Lounge service and quality was great. The outdoor pool area was also really lovely for lounging around. Our rooms were good although we would have preferred to have kept our original booking of 1 King room and 1 room with 2 queen beds in stead of 2 King rooms. Our family had a fabulous stay nonetheless.

United Arab EmiratesThe staff were very friendly, helpful and polite at all times. Hats off to Austen Reid, InterContinental's Executive chef, not only did he pay personal attention to the guests, I also overheard him explaining to a guest how tries to ensure a stress free working environment for his team members. This is impressive, we tend to forget that while we are on vacation we have high demands and expectations, normally focused on the Restaurant / Kitchen team, reducing our stress levels by placing them onto others. Austen, my son says "Thank you for the chicken nuggets" we will be back again!!!!!!!!

The Intercontinental Muscat is an excellent hotel for a stay with kids. Our room on the 5th floor was very comfortable with a view on the beautiful opera house. Every day we received new bottles of water and the cleaning personnel was very friendly. There are many excellent restaurants in the hotel, including Mynah's Edge in the garden next to the swimming pool, They have very tasty dishes and non-alcoholic cocktails (it was Ramadan time when we were there). The breakfast is very good, with a large selection of bread, warm dishes, eggs served on the spot, many fruits, etc. The Executive Chef came to talk to us which we appreciated a lot. The hotel offers a direct access to the sea which our kids loved. Nearby there are also plenty of good restaurants. Overall we can fully recommend the InterContinental which was completely renovated inside and has a large inner court yard. Parking is free which is also an asset to this hotel.

We stayed (family of 4) at Intercontinental Muscat for 3 days. The room was big enough with two queen sized beds with nice view. We had the dinner and breakfast buffets at Musandam restaurant that had delicious starters, many options of main courses and a nice range of delicious desserts. All staffs at the restaurant was very polite and helpful , they secured us tables both days in no time though the restaurant was quite full during the Iftar hours. The pool was excellent , temperature controlled, kids loved to spent their most of the time in pool. The hotel has quick access to the nearby beach as well. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who need a peaceful stay and wants to enjoy wonderful delicacies.
