Very much a country idle, which means that you'll be woken up by the cockerels (plural) and muezzin at full belt from 4.30 am to 5.30 am in February. Food and accommodation is superb.

Relative expensive for what they offer (but accomodation in Oman is in general more expensive than in other Arab countries). Mattresses were a little bit hard.

The inn is simple, but clean and has some charm (although - compared e.g. with comparable pensions in Morocco - it could be even better).The way up to Balad Syed is breathtaking - alone this is a good reason to stay in Balad Syed (+ well marked hiking trails). The service was excellent. We appreciate it very much that the owner organised for us a car + driver to bring us from Wadi Bani Awf to Balad Syed (and back again next morning) since our car couldn't make it to the very end because of the steep and sandy ascent 5 km before Balad Syed.

The Balad Sayt village is beautiful and worth the effort to get there. This is the only accommodation in the village. It is very nice with a covered outside dining area where the included dinner and breakfast ate served. Tea, coffee and juice is always available. Dinner and breakfast are locally sourced and prepared where possible. Mattresses are on the floor. Everything is clean. A very nice place to stay in this remote mountain village far from anywhere.

Sharing a bathroom and toilet with several other rooms can mean long waits. Rooms backing on to courtyard let all the light in and beds on the floor are very hard but this may suit other people.

The location was great and the road passed little snake canyon to the place provided stunning scenery. The 4WD road leaving to head to Jebel Shams is stunning and definitely a 4WD track but great views until the tarmac. Property is nicely decorated inside and the traditional food for dinner and breakfast was very good. Village is good to wander round and in a beautiful setting.

There was no one at the hotel when we arrived - caused some problems because we had other meetings arranged. It's really important to improve the signs to the hotel - they're fine up to one kilometer away, but then you're left hanging - and no one in this remote village spoke any English.

Evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Room was adequate, mattresses on floor but comfortable. Good bathroom. Parking was limited but ok (since we were the only guests)

Truly memorable stay and experience. Highly recommended and left such an impression on us as a family. We spoke about the stay and hospitality for a long time after. The host Masoud , contacted us and confirmed details. Super friendly and polite, easy to chat to. Masoud was waiting for us when he arrived and ensured we were always ok during our stay. nothing. However pls mention that 4x4 required to reach the place and not ideal to travel after 5 pm . Roads are narrow and tricky, we have enjoyed the drive indeed as being off-road enthusiastic and having 4x4’s. certain tracks are tricky and easier roads are available though 😊. enjoyed every bit of the drive and stay

Bathrooms need some attention.

The location inside the remote village. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Creative interiors. Large outdoors seating area overlooking the farms. Best place to start hiking of W8 and other nearby trails. Closer to snake Canyon. Food is tasty but limited options. There are no common restaurants in the area, so best to take meals option.
