Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a great stay but the most memorable part was the desert safari with Abdallah and his family. They were very accommodating to us as we are a group of young ladies of which one was not feeling well and 2 elderly women with car sickness. We got both the thrill and the care. Their kindness helped us feel very comfortable and safe and they shared their knowledge and experiences of the bedouin life openly. A day full of laughter we will never forget!

RomaniaThey should serve less food.
The tent should be the choice in case you stay in this place though the rooms are also very nice. We were offered an upgrade and received a tent which made the whole experience more interesting. Breakfast and dinner included in the price were served at the table and they were much more than one person can eat. Food was delicious. The place is easily reachable with a small car. The dunes are at the end of the camp so the desert experience is guaranteed.

AustraliaThe camp was very easy to get to in a normal car, no need for a 4wd. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We stayed in a tent which was comfortable and even had air conditioning! The breakfast and dinner was fantastic each day - so many options and all delicious.

EstoniaThe interior of the tents could be more authentic. Instead of the grey mudcarpets maybe a patterned carpet, like in the central building. More details would make the tents more cozy, as they are very large. Dinner could use a bit more options especially on the dessert department. Was expecting some arabian pastries, but none of those and the barceque was quite dry. No labels on any of the dishes so we had no idea what we were eating, but noone went hungry.
Loved the location right next to the dunes. Our tent was great, spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was large, but no hot water in the first evening. Breakfast was good, plenty of options. Free wifi in the central building.

GermanyYou must book an activity to enjoy the sunset event. My expectation is to have a basic Dune Bashing by car plus sunset to be included in the base price
Great experience of sleeping in a tent in the middle of the desert. The camp is accessible by a sedan (none SUV) car. The sunset experience by Quad bikes was superb

New ZealandWe booked months ago and we came all the way from New Zealand for 1 night and they had overbooked the tent we were meant to stay in so we ended up in a villa which was nice but not what we wanted. It was a major disappointment but the stay was memorable anyway
The location, the buffet and the staff were great

The dunes behind are extremely convenient as they are just closeby. Tents are impressive, the bed was very confortable. SwitzerlandWe really enjoyed our stay at the Al Salma Desert Camp. We were in one of the tent, it was super cozy and spacious. The bathroom was half outdoor and we had a private space outside. We booked the candle dinner with campfire. We really enjoyed it and the staff were dedicated to make this experience as great as possible. The team even organised a firework! We will keep in mind the kindness of the staff. We also get stuck in the sand and the team was keen to help us. We will recommend to have a 4x4 to get to the camp.

CanadaThe experience was amazing. Staff is great, special thanks to Naim ! Plenty of different activities proposed, we did quad and sandboard and it was such a good time. Food is a buffet with plenty of choices and the room was super clean and really comfortable. They are in the middle of the desert, easy to access by yourself with a 4x4 (even normal car could access, there is a little road to go there in the desert). I do not regret to have choose Salam camp desert. I definitely recommand it !

SloveniaWe stayed in a tent and it was amazing. The staff was very helpfull, nice and polite. We came there with our 4x4 so we could explore the desert on our own. But the place is reachable by normal car as well. The food was great (dinner/breakfast). If you need a place to relax and walk on the dunes, this is a place to go. All the best to the staff.

NetherlandsWas a bit cold at night. Also, felt a bit pressured to do activities which were relatively expensive for what you get (although Bedouin activity was worth it). Finally, some locals drive around with their 4WDs nearby the camp until late at night.
Was a nice location which required a little bit offroad but still very manageable with 2WD. Camp is located just against the desert so you can walk up there (if you're a bit in shape) or do one of the activities. We did the Bedouin activity guided by Zaher (great tour!!) and visited some locals and learnt more about them.

GermanyWe got a very good price for the stay, all other services were expensive in comparison, but that's the case with most services directed to tourists in Oman, in our experience. It's a pity that the staff is exclusively foreign, because you really don't get to experience the Omani welcoming culture that we loved during our stay at other facilities in Oman.
There's everything and more than you could expect when spending the night in a tent: fully equipped bathroom, where you can shower under the stars, fridge, air conditioning, a very comfortable bed and stylish rugs on the soft, sandy floor. Great food variety, friendly and competent staff. Enough space between the tents so that you don't get claustrophobic, but not enough to not hear the neighbour's screaming baby through the fabric of the tent.

ItalyThe activities are a bit expensive, but I understood this is in every desert resort...
The tent was super comfy and classy. The toilet was huge! Believe it or not, we actually had the best meals in Oman here: dinner and breakfast were just amazing, great quality and lot of choice.

PolandOn our Oman travel map, this is number one on the list :) the camp sent us a list of activities, so we could think about what we wanted to do and experience in advance. We chose a 4x4 desert safari (with Abdulah, thanks again for a few hours together, especially for the bonfire and coffee and tea made for the sunset), in the morning we went on a hot air balloon flight (experienced pilot Ignacio with a great sense of humor), after returning to the camp we ate breakfast and we went quads. Each time the crew made sure that everything was OK and that we didn't need anything. We felt taken care of by everyone. As for the tent, there is air conditioning, refrigerator, you can make hot tea, comfortable beds, a warm sleeping quilt which is useful on a colder night, a large bathroom, hot water, such a luxury in the desert, because let's not forget that it is a desert! Dinner and breakfast included in the price, buffet style. We liked everything, I have no negative comments.
