Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaFor sure it is internet connetction. If you far from access point your connection will drop every 5 min if you lucky enough to establish it and find a proper spot for it (for us it was a balcony or corridor).
Awesome location, spacious room (1 br suite), ideal for family with 1 (or maybe 2) kids. Nice and friendly staff, nice and clean ameneties. Short walk to water taxi which will bring you to the perfect snorkeling spot such a Duck Island. Don't forget your reef shoes.

AustraliaWe had a marvellous stay at Hotel ‘Le Lagon’. Nothing could have been better. The outstanding aspect was the staff: they were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful (and - helpful for us - spoke excellent English). I accidentally left my Passport for a side trip to an island in the stored away luggage and Thomas amazingly organised for a driver to bring me my suitcase to the airport. I cannot think of many hotels in the world that would do this for you; this was above and beyond what you could expect from a hotel. They also helped us organise excursions by bus, boat and private driver, transport to the airport and more. There is an excellent sauna, as well as pool and spa, on the first floor and the rooms have a large, comfortable bed. Small touches, like water with mint or orange (changing daily!) upon arrival made us feel special and looked after.

AustraliaAll good!
The reception staff were fabulous. They spoke English well and were always helpful and gave us lots of great suggestions for our holiday. The hotel is very comfortable and the hot tub outdoors is amazing! We were in it every day. The gym is very well equipped and the fish feeding daily is definitely worth going to .

New ZealandOk hotel. Very 90’s decor ie a bit tired. Internet was pretty rubbish and kicked you off literally every few minutes. It’s ridiculously expensive for what you get. The pool area wasn’t accessible for half of our stay which would be fine if they had a) communicated that and b) taken into consideration that the seafront was off limits due to building work and a shark attack. Worth remembering that this is only a three star, and you do get a three star hotel (most definately not what you pay for). Air bnb probably better for Noumea - all accommodation was super expensive so either spend a ton on five star or much less on Airbnb. This 3 star wasn’t worth the price
great location, friendly staff, on a main road but quiet even tho there was a lot of building work.

United StatesThis hotel looks much much nicer than it is. Breakfast was included. But wait, the fine print says "traditional" only... If u want the buffet they advertise you have to pay 15 more per person. Traditional breakfast is a coffee and bread only... Really? The fine print is only visible AFTER you book. Surprise! Before then it is only Yes or No to breakfast but all the pictures etc are of the buffet. The hot tub jets didn't work. The room was much smaller than expected. It is very hard to communicate with people unless you're fluent in French. We asked for toilet paper three times before someone gave us some. Not a great experience. Everything about this place looks better than it is. Feels misrepresented.
The value was good compared to other hotels in the area. The WiFi was good. I will give props to some of the staff: Grizelda spoke excellently and helped us out with several things we needed. And they all at least tried to help with a smile. There were two very nice gentlemen at the front desk that were very helpful.

AustraliaPool was small, we only went for a quick dip so didn’t concern us, but considering the beaches are closed at present would be nice to have a larger pool. Also the spa didn’t work at all, no bubbles and only one jet working. Roadworks all around Anse Vata at present but the double glazed windows were great , some noise but that’s expected….jobs gotta be done and nothing the hotel is responsible for. Otherwise very happy.
Super friendly and helpful staff, organised a super early check in for us. Always on hand to advise and book things for us. Room not huge but great with a mini kitchen and microwave, nice decor. Bed was super comfy..and I’m a fussy sleeper. Close to beach and facilities, cafes and shops. Small fitness centre with some Nautilus equipment and treadmill, too lazy to use it though so not sure of functionality of equipment. Highly recommend for a short stay.

AustraliaUnfortunately there are roadworks going on right outside the property. Whilst the sound proofing, once inside, isn’t too bad, it was not the quiet, relaxing break we were hoping for. The air conditioner was so noisy we hardly slept. And there are no fans so you had to have it on otherwise itgot very stuffy. I wear ear plugs and it sounded like a noisy washing machine on spin cycles. There are also lots of other road and beach works going on at the waterfront. And you cannot swim in the sea due to the recent fatal shark attacks. The pool area is very small, and if you get a large family there, you can say goodbye to any peace. We stayed here 5 nights. One or two would have been enough. The rooms are small and basic. Don’t forget your wine bottle opener! We bought one from a local shop which set us back $26!!! (our silly fault!) However we wouldn’t have bought the wine if we had known. This is not the hotels fault and only our opinion but I would rethink a visit to New Caledonia. It is so so expensive and the least pacific island feeling island. The overall atmosphere of the whole place is quite flat. There is absolutely no pacific island culture here other than at Tjibou cultural centre which is worth a visit. It is purely set up for the cruise ships. Expensive shops and the food is overpriced and was often inedible. We didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on the food here.
The property was quaint and had character. Thomas on reception was super helpful and friendly. It was conveniently located next to a good bakery, pharmacy and grocery shops. Close to the domestic airport.

New ZealandThe shower/toilet did not have window and poor ventilation. The blanket on the bed was heavy and the AC was blowing straight on the bed. The room was very small and hard to be doing anything else than sleeping. We did not get offered pool towels when we came in. When we were leaving our airport shuttle, organised by the hotel arrived 50 minutes after our pick up time, there was no compensation offered.
The pool and hot pool was great with sun beds.

AustraliaThe twin rooms were a bit cramped.
The staff at Hotel Le Lagon were exceptional and gave such great service! They were really helpful in assisting my friends and I, who don't speak French, book day trips, taxis and shuttle buses. The location is also perfect, being right next door to the main beach, bus stops, great restaurants and cafes, a fabulous bakery, a pharmacy, mini supermarkets and retails stores. The location is also great for the water taxi to Ile Aux Canards and the aquarium. The rooms were comfy and the air-conditioning was a life saver! The pool was nice but small. I also loved the little aquarium in the lobby.

New ZealandShower leaked onto the floor. Always had ants crawling on the bench. Wasn’t too much of a fan of the bathroom how there was a blind on the outside where basically anyone in the bedroom can just look in on you having a shower. No extractor fan either so the steam didn’t really have anywhere to go. Roadworks right outside.
Was nice to have your own balcony. Pool very clean & kept to perfection. Beds nice and comfortable.

New ZealandStaff advised us of time required to allow to get to the local airport for our flight to Isle of Pines. However, the taxi we booked through the front desk did not show up and we subsequently missed our flights out to the Isle of Pines. If you are requiring transport ask for a private car not public taxi!
Rooms connected via a balcony was great for our family group. The heated pool was good as the weather was cooler and wetter than we were expecting.

AustraliaI was overcharged 17,000 XPF, equivalent to A$250, on the 12 July 2022, and I have the document to prove this. Since then I have sent numerous emails and made a phone call to get the reimbursement of my money but to no avail. The standard response has been 'It will be done this week' or 'The accountant is very busy'. Now they are ignoring my emails. I am very upset because it is tantamount to theft.
The whole experience was tarnished by being overcharge by about $250 Australian dollars and not being reimbursed.
