Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaThe only suggestion would be that pillows could be thicker to provide more support and darker shades / curtains for better sleep could be installed.
Very clean, fresh, spacious and nicely decorated rooms! Lots of fresh air, no noise pollution and air condition, easy access for stroller, as we travelled with 2 month old child. Baby cot was also provided. We enjoyed the spa and massages at the main resort facility, transfer was provided. Masseurs were very professional, good technique! Both restaurants at the main resort (European cuisine) and Silene Spa resort Egle (Italian restaurant) were fantastic! Great variety, quality and service! Staff was very professional and accommodating! Exquisite views!

LithuaniaThere is nothing to do around in a walking distance. Hotel surroundings could be more private, because you can see village neighbours clearly, there are no high fence or hedges.
Hotel is the quiet village. Rooms are very nicely decorated, cosy. Restaurant is amazing - food is great, oriented to Italian cuisine, everything is so fresh and tasty. Breakfast was also very delicious.

LatviaThis is an overlap facility for the main resort, situated some ways away from the central resort (driving or a shuttle is necessary). Egles Villa provides for all the basic necessities - a bed, a restaurant and a very decent breakfast. No major attractions in the surrounding village.

LatviaBed mattress was hard, reception lady was very nice, but didn’t give the information about SPA, that we asked and she said she will get back to us. Prosciutto pizza was not tasty at all and overpriced for this region.
Room was pretty and clean, breakfast were great and full! We got two coffees both and it was for free. Very beautiful surroundings.

LatviaUpon arrival, we learned that both restaurants that are there - host weddings. And no one can feed us, come back later. The only option is to go to the store and buy yourself something to eat. A great option - isn't it? Arriving at the Spa at the time of reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes. Since the visitors before us took a very long time to change their clothes and dry their hair. But according to the usual tradition - our visiting time ended on time, as the next visitors arrived. :) The cleanliness of the spa area leaves much to be desired. This is, of course, the fault of the visitors, since it is clear that they use the same shoes in which they came from the street and do not want to wash properly in the shower. But the staff's job is to keep an eye on it and clean it up. There is clearly not enough staff. The employee is both a massage therapist and an administrator. (The worker is good, but he physically cannot do everything on time). When we were finally able to get into the restaurant - (after 21, having reserved a table in advance) - we learned that we could only eat outside on the terrace, because there was still a wedding going on in the restaurant. (when we reserved a table, they forgot to warn us about this). Therefore, after visiting the spa (after the sauna and with a wet head), we had to enjoy a late dinner in the cool September air. :( The waitress tried very hard to somehow rectify this situation (she was great), but she had to start by listing a long list of dishes and drinks that had run out. The food was brought quite quickly, which rather indicates a large amount of food had been prepared earlier. Since the pizza (which cannot be prepared in advance) was served last, after the meat dishes. But the food was delicious - thanks to the chefs for that. In the morning, we spent a long time looking for personnel who could tell us exactly how much we need to pay for visiting the spa.
In this region, this is actually one of the best SPA centers (but when you have no competitors, you begin to relax). And the nature around the Spa Center is very beautiful (but this is not their merit). There is an Italian wine shop next to the hotel. Sommelier Alexander is the best employee with whom we had the opportunity to communicate during these two days. He contributed at least 50% of our positive mood this weekend. Great breakfast. I really liked the hotel’s creative approach to increasing its own booking rating. If you look at the reviews, you will see Victor, who this summer alone left more than 10 reviews out of 10 without any comments...apparently a loyal regular visitor. :)

LatviaThe on-site Italian restaurant was closed for the first two days of our stay giving us basically no choice but to eat at the expensive resort restaurant. It was only when we were actually on the way to the hotel that we were told the on site restaurant would be closed. We had a very mixed experience at the restaurant - the food was good but the first night we had to wait more than an hour for a very simple selection of dishes: Caesar salad, Soup of the day and two children's portions of pasta. Clearly the waitress forgot to place our order. When I asked what was happening it arrived quickly but had obviously been done in a hurry (the chicken in the Caesar salad was undercooked). In fairness the more senior waiting staff did apologise and give us complimentary dessert, which in fact turned out to be the best part of the meal. The second time we went there we had no problems and an excellent meal, probably because the head waiter took care of us and extra effort was being made. As regards the hotel itself, I don't understand how it merits a four-star rating. In my opinion it should be three star. Despite it being high season (mid August) the whole place felt like it was just being dusted off. There was only one hanger in the wardrobe, so I asked for some more. The TV channels didn't work properly. The helpful receptionist came and tuned the TVs for us while some unknown (and unmasked) man stood in the doorway. I assume he was some sort of manager? He didn't bother to explain his presence. Similarly at the 'resort' we hired bicycles to ride around through the local forest. We must have been the only people to do so for a long time as the tires were flat and the brake and gear cables rusty. I guess the place had been shuttered during Covid, but as it was still not operating 100% I think the prices being charged should have been considerably lower to take account of this. The photos make the room look more impressive than they are.
It does at least offer some decent accommodation in a region that is short on better-quality offerings, but this is a slightly strange place, with the bulk of the roooms some 5 km away from the 'resort' part by the lakeside. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good - and even more so if you take it at the lakeside restaurant. The wine list at the lakeside restaurant is excellent - whoever put it together knew what they were doing, and the atmosphere there is enjoyably grown up (mellow jazz from the speakers instead of annoying pop). One good thing about the accommodation being in the village - a short walk away, across the school playing field is an excellent public swimming spot in the lake. In fact it is better than the swimming spot at the private resort. Daugavpils and Krāslava both make excellent day trips from here and the forests are good for mushrooming and berry picking.
