Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaSound isolation. It is an old building which is nice but some of the wall are quite plain so it might be ok but you may find yourself next to a bit noisier neighbours.
Location ir just few metres away from town square and by the small river which gives you perfect white noise for better sleeping.

LatviaThe sound isolation is not the best, especially if you have some noisy guests that gather in the common area in the middle of the night. And in our room in particular (Gild pigeon - I do not know about the others) the light switches on/off automatically in the bathroom. And since there is kind of a window into the bedroom it is not very pleasant during the night.
I like the vintage atmosphere the building itself, the rooms and the decor. Our room had lovely three windows to the old town and that made the room very light. It was also very spacious. The location is perfect as well. The access and check-in is not as simple as in a classic hotel (no reception - check-in in a restaurant). But everything is well explained, so it was not complicated at all.

LatviaThe rooms are not very soundproof. Also it might get quite hot, because you can open only 1 window.
Breakfast is not included in a classical way, its not a buffet. You just go to the restaurant and order omlet for example. But Overall stay was really nice. Shower was great.

FinlandThe rooms are in the second floor of an old house, with quite steep stairs. It was perfectly ok for me, but one with difficulties to move should perhaps not take this hotel. The walls in the hotel are very thin, so you can hear almost everything that happens in at least the rooms close to you. Again, this did not disturb me, but one sensitive to "noise-pollution" should be aware of this.
The location was fantastic, and the house an idyllic old house were you could feel as being flown back 100+ years, however with modern comfort in the rooms. There was not breakfast included in the price, and served for purchase only on Sunday in a hotel very close (were the check in also was made), but this was known when booked.

LatviaCould hear others in the building quite well (doors banging, walking, talking etc.) As it is in the old city centre be mindful it could get noisy on the streets during the night. Overall well-kept but beside tables had some sticky patches.
The room had a window right next to the Alekšupīte river which allows to listen to the sound of water flowing during the night. Cozy atmosphere and lots of reading material for leisure time.

LatviaNothing to do with that- as the building is very old, you will hear all sounds around you - creaking floors in your and neighbours rooms, doors etc.
Small, simple and comfortable hotel. As it is winter time and off-season, breakfast during working days is in take-away “mode”, but anyway tasty:). Great - the tea, coffee making possibility in hotel.

LithuaniaMy neighbours were drinking alcohol and talking quite loud all night, so I couldn’t really have rest. I have asked them to be a littlle bit more quite, so they were kind enough to turn off the music, but still talking and having fights (talking) until the morning. I would expect to have rules of silent hours or at least having really good sound proof walls
Nice interior

Latvia"2 Baloži" is a perfect accommodation for staying in Kuldiga as everything is located within a few minutes walk from the hotel - Kuldiga Old Town and the most important tourist attractions; tourism information office; "The Marmalade", the best bakery in Kuldiga; "Goldingen Room", probably the best pizzas in Latvia, etc. "2 Baloži" has a nice common space where you can find an electric kettle, tea and coffee, variety of plates, mugs and glasses, so you can easily order some food for takeaway and later enjoy a peaceful evening at the hotel. "2 Baloži" is located in a historical building, allowing to enjoy the spirit of old Kuldiga. Everything is nice, cozy and clean. Absolutely recommended!
