Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe arrived early, and the room was not ready, but we were advised to check in to save time later and to return at 3pm for room key. When we arrived back at 3pm we then had to stand in a long line of guests all checking in to get our key. It transpires superior rooms can check in from 2pm, other rooms only from 3. So nothing to do with rooms being ready and a poor experience at a luxury hotel.
The restaurant was superb, one of the best we've eaten in. The heated outdoor pool was great. Modern, clean, well decorated bedrooms.

IsraelWe didn't use the spa and the restaurant because it was very expensive. Not enough options for vegetarian food. We would like more vegetables on breakfast.
The castle is beautiful, the atmosphere was amazing.

NetherlandsWe arrived 30min. early for the check-in. We spent some time at the library. When we were back for the check-in I asked if the room is ready and got an answer "I don't know!!" with an attitude from the lady (name: Cxxxx) sitting next to the reception. She stood up. hand over our keys with a fake smile.
Location fantastic. Breakfast was great. Staff is geneally good. (Muazz)

LuxembourgThere is nothing in specific I didn't like. I just had a request for the staff when I booked the dinner that was my partner's brthd and is was not taken into account (most probably due to the workload). Other then that all was good.
In overall the experience was very good and food at the restaurant and also the breakfast with a lot of options.

United KingdomFor 500+ Euro per night in a room/suite the spa should be included, this is a bit petty to charge extra for this as often using spa does not require using shower and bath in rooms.

LuxembourgThe spa closes very early at 7pm, it would have been much better to be able to use it during late hours too.

United StatesI don't remember making dinner reservations but we had one. Somehow I think the reservation is assumed by the hotel as other dining options are very limited. Menu was limited and prix fixe and very expensive. Service was slow.
It is fairly remote, there is a mall in driving distance should you need something. Grounds and restaurant are beautiful. Nice bar with small menu available.

LuxembourgThe bath could be a bit bigger, I felt it was a bit narrow.
Great spa in the form of a cave, but also dry and wet saunas, hotel itself is Luxembourg national monument. Dinner restaurant was also excellent, with haut cuisine.

Such a special stay at this hotel. Room, food, service was exceptional. We actually got stuck during a snow fall and theycame to collect us. Just fantastic. Spa was really good as well. Location and the use of free public transport can get you to the local town and into Luxembourg. So easy.

GermanyI enjoy natural lighting but it was a bit weird that my window faced the parking lot so anyone walking by could look into the room. There was also no screen on the window. Seemed a bit unsecured especially for a first floor room.
I found the spa online and was so enchanted by the cave pool that I immediately booked a massage. It is extremely convenient to have the hotel right there as once I am done relaxing at the spa I want to shower and get ready for dinner. The place is enchanting. The courtyard was beautiful and my room was clean. Located about 10-15 minutes away from great restaurants. Recommend.

United KingdomLocation isn’t great, if you’re not driving and coming from the airport it’s a long and difficult journey with public transport. They take a large security deposit when you arrive at check-in and food options are limited. Perhaps a vending machine or even just a dedicated room service menu with simple food options would be beneficial. More information and imagery of the castles history could be provided too.
Stunning property with lots of original features, bathroom was delightful and the beds were super comfortable. Food was delicious and the library is a lovely little area.

DenmarkMost of our funny incidents was related to food and beverage. Like, when we visited their (very very beautiful) restaurant and ordered 6 times from 3 different waiters.. which none of spoke English or German at all. They simply didn’t know what or when we ordered. We had more champagne and laughed about it. Also, in the terrace bar we ordered ‘cheese and meat’ platter. With “less meat and more cheese, please” since we don’t really eat meat. Up came; 8 small cubes of cheese and 1 kg of 6 kinds of sliced salami sausages. Again; we laughed, posted on instagram, and brought 800gr. of sausages home for a week of tapas. I also want to note the “stream music from your phone to tv”. That system didn’t work, and I don’t think it ever did. There’s no possible way to get some music in the room except bring the speakers yourself. I would also mention the spam of mails and messages with “Please book massage 4 weeks in advance or you can’t use the spa”. Those mails are simply uncalled for. We didn’t book anything and used the spa both days we were there. I do understand we didn’t have a reservation in case of congestion. But then, write that. All in all pretty innocent hiccups that we will survive.
Our stay was mostly on par with expectations. There was, though, a few hiccups but nothing alarming. More like… funny incidents. Generally a place I would definitely not hesitate to visit again. Made my 50y birthday very memorable, and the ambiance and overall impression of Urspelt was nothing short of spectacular. One of the receptionist did us a very dear and personal favor that you could not officially expect them to. We are very grateful.

GermanyService was certainly friendly but expediting style without personal attention. Breakfast location and arrangements was too much crowded and ended up giving a feel of cantine style. Spa area is too crowded or too small for the number of visitors. Outdoor area are nice but lack of service to provide an nice rest and chill area
