How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

- The hotel owner was very nice and spoke excellent English. She arranged renting a moped for us as well as day trips which were all good - The room was spacious and the bed was comfy - Breakfast was good - Very central only a short walk to some good restaurants

A bit of a smell in the bathroom but nothing serious at all!
Nice simple beautiful rooms with balcony. Extremely helpful staff. Great location and excellent breakfast

Great location, can walk everywhere in Luang Prabang, and is very near the night market for great food! Large, clean, comfortable rooms with good air-conditioning and wifi. Big bathroom with separate shower which was appreciated. The family who run it are lovely, and booked our train tickets to Vang Vieng very efficiently and at a good price. They allowed us to borrow bicycles for free to tour the city. Good free breakfast and can help book tours too. Would recommend!

It was so nice to live there. The villa is located in the centre of- everything is close to that, nice accommodation, everything needed for life is provided, great polite and kind reception with perfect English, tasty breakfast, nice terrace outside. Not noisy, not hot in the room. Many thanks!

I can’t rate this property enough . The rooms were spotless clean . Great location quite but within east walking distance of everything you need . The staff were lovely . Hoe in particular was so helpful and friendly ,nothing was too much trouble .I would highly recommend a stay here

the shower blocked (but they fixed it) and the air con was a bit noisy!
we love this place! Nua is an amazing host and speaks great english. she can advise on everything you might need. the accommodation is clean and comfortable, with a lovely balcony. the location is ideal. the breakfast is simple but delicious

Hoa was great company and incredibly helpful, helping us to book various things and letting us use the place as storage when we were back in town a few days later waiting for a train.

Breakfast could be better in the hotel next door. Focused on warm breakfast.

Very well rooms for a reasonable price, so kind staff, especially Hoa helping you with any question to activities and transport in LP. Calm location as well, within some minutes to all the main streets.

My favorite place I stayed in Laos! Hoa the owner/manager is delightful, along with her son & all her staff. Location is perfect, quiet, situated not too far & not too close to the busy center. The room large & sparkling clean. Breakfast is simple, delicious & filling. Free water refills. Bicycles at your disposal. Villa Chitchareune 2 is my go-to hotel in Luang Prabang - a familiar feeling. Onward travel can be arranged, and Hoa can help you with just about anything. It was a pleasure staying here in Jan 2024. I will return without a doubt! Highly recommend!

The hotel is in a good location, walking distance from all the main attractions in Luang Prabang. They offer free bikes that was very convenient. The room was very spacious and perfectly clean, with a minimalistic decoration. AC, shower and Wifi worked really well. Breakfast was also good. They helped me booking everything, from picking up from the airport, sim-card, tours, and taxi to the train station.

The property is extremely clean, really well sized and very comfy. The host is amazing, she is so helpful and did everything to accommodate our needs. I couldn’t recommend this place more, it’s truly amazing! If you get the chance, book now! Also, breakfast is incredible.
