How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Recommended by staff at Freedom, however the room was perfect and the guesthouse quite good. Toilet should improve, breakfast needed. Anna is nice

We had a lovely stay, large rooms with everything we needed. The staff organised scooter rental and onward travel for us. Good location walking distance to all the main streets.

There are some gaps in the doors so bugs and house geckos could get in. But Anna made sure to chase any out every night if I see any, so I could be more comfortable during my stay, and I appreciate that so much
My host Anna was so friendly and apt in making sure I am comfortable during my stay. And I mean like everything that you need, or if you have issues with a room or if you want another room, she will literally go out of her way to do that!

Anna manages the place really well, she helps with almost everything we need. The swimming pool is also cleaned by them every day, it's really a nice place to stay for a while However, our trip was not long, so it's a pity to say goodbye so soon

Anna is the best host so caring and makes sure you have the best possible stay with lots of recommendations for things to do in the area and always making sure we get back safely. The rooms were lovely and spacious with a comfy bed. The pool is a nice addition and the location is great. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Vang Vieng.

Room and bathroom were clean and spacious! Hot showers and good water pressure. Staff was alway helpful and welcoming. Especially Anna, she is a sweetheart and happy to give recommendations. Everything you need is within 10 minute walk. Booked a ride to Vientiane for us for 150,000 Kip. Option to rent motor bikes at hostel as well.

The only thing was the noise from Sakura bar but this was a minor and no fault of the property.
Absolutely loved our stay here! Anna was simply the best. She took care of us straight away and helped us to plan everything for our stay in Vang Vieng. She booked tuktuks for us, our hot air balloon ride and our transport to Vientiane. There was a nice pool too, just didn’t get the chance to use it as we were so busy! Anna even called us to say bye as she wasn’t there on check out. Such a pleasant and comfortable stay. The room was also very big and spacious.

Everything was perfect!
I had the best time here, Anna the best host you could wish for. The rooms were superb and very clean. Anna can and will help you with everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would 100% recommend the Global Hostel!

The most remarkable point in this place is Anna! She is the most caring and beautiful person in the whole town. She helped me having an amazing stay! The rooms are big and comfy. Everything was clean, the location is amazing and the wifi works perfectly.

Anna is the most kind person in the world, always there to help you with everything you need. The location of the hotel is in the heart of the vang vieng and everything was very clean. I strongly recommend staying there

There is a night club that blasts horrible music every night just next doors + the AC is loud so bring ear plugs

Nothing- the only thing I didnt like was that I only had 3 days there.
Anna was the nicest host I have had in my whole time travelling Asia. I arrived late and she instantly made me feel at home, helping me plan out my next few days and taking my dirty laundry off me 🤣 she was always so kind and genuinely interested in my day and really made the trip special. The hotel itself is also perfectly located in the centre of town with spotless facilities.

We loved our time here! The location is perfect, the room was really big and comfortable, and the pool was a nice bonus. But the best part is Anna - she was so helpful with planning our days and booking all our activities in Vang Vieng, and most of all she was so lovely and friendly to chat to. We spent a week here but definitely could’ve stayed longer!

No fridge in room,
Really good location, Anna was so so helpful - booked hot air balloon and buses for us and recommended us places to eat. She also arranged a moped for us to use for the day, was ready for us straight away and recommended us places to go. The hostel also has a pool which was great to come back to after a hot day. Would recommend staying here to anyone who is coming to Vang Vieng!

Absolutelsy nothing to complain about. Everything was perfect.
A great and clean guesthouse with a pool in the middle of everything. Anna in the reception is a fantastic and friendly person who makes you feel very welcome and help you with everything from recommending restaurants to book tours, fix the laundry etc. Highly recommended guesthouse / hostel.
