Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

If I could give this resort 100 stars I would. It is amazing, the peaceful surroundings, views, the log cabins, decor, the food (thank you Grace & Co.!), the staff..I could go on. We had the best time here. They offer a free shuttle into the town once a day too which was an added bonus! Pool is under construction at the moment, but didn't hinder us at all. Can't wait to go back!

BrazilCertain cities have their own magic. This is the case of Luang Prabang, on the banks of the Mekong River. And to immerse yourself in this magical atmosphere, choosing the hotel is essential. I made a reservation at On Mekong River through Booking and was surprised by the high standard of quality I enjoyed for three days. I'm not talking about luxury, but rather the extremely elegant simplicity that characterizes the people of Laos. From the attentive reception to the hassle-free checkout, going through tour and restaurant tips, everything went perfectly. Highlight is the privileged location of the Resort, with the Mekong River right in front of it and at a point where boats with tourists stop to enjoy the sunset. And you can do the same from the resort balcony. All this with an exceptional cost-benefit ratio. The breakfast is another highlight, as is the attention and kindness of the entire staff. Talking to Henry, the owner, is a bonus in this perfect equation. His vision of how tourist infrastructure should be inserted into the community in a natural and participatory way should guide large hotel chains as well as all those who use tourism as a way of earning revenue. The only negative point is the fact that I couldn't have more time to enjoy the place. But I'll try my best to come back.

AustraliaNothing at all.
It was beautiful to be on the river and get to eat their lovely breakfasts with a beautiful view. You can order set menus to enjoy there too which we did, was delicious! Location a bit out of main town but that was good as was quieter and there was free quick transport to town whenever you needed. The room was large, very comfortable, with traditional decor and big bathroom. Also a kitchenette with full sized fridge! The resort itself was beautiful with many traditional wooden buildings with paths leading through the well tended grounds. A swimming pool was being made which will be fantastic when finished as the weather was extremely hot and humid in May when we visited. The staff were absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful. Zar and the two beautiful sisters from Myanmar, Mo and Grace were particularly helpful, although everyone we met there were delightful.

An oasis of calm on the outskirts of Luang Prabang with superb sunset views of the Mekong. Accommodation was stunning, large rooms, clean and tastefully decorated. Good selection of food at breakfast. Free shuttle into the city centre and cheap shuttle to the airport. Owner Henry was super helpful and full of local knowledge. Can't believe how good it was fir the price.

The whole experience was amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for you, and to sit down and pick Henry's brain on the history of not only Laos, but much more of S.E.Asia was truly a pleasure. The entire complex is simply stunning and all involved should be commended for all the work they are doing.

The Amazing Mekong Resort! One of the most relaxing and beautiful places I have ever stayed. Henry, who is the resort’s proprietor is one of the most charming and helpful persons I have ever met, ensuring my stay was comfortable and memorable. The staff were wonderful, always on hand to assist with anything, anytime of the day, in fact, having stayed at many hotels, I have never come across such cheerful and courteous people. The resort itself is quiet and peaceful with amazing views overlooking the Mekong River, it’s well maintained and extremely clean. An infinity pool is being built which will make this location even more appealing. To finish off, I would like to thank Henry and his team for making my stay so perfect. I can honestly recommend ‘On the Mekong Resort’ for a holiday vacation you will cherish forever. My ever lasting memory is breakfast overlooking the Mekong, what more could anyone want?

United StatesI was in Asia 9 weeks and this was one of my favorite lodgings! Absolutely beautiful grounds. View of The Mekong is unmatchable. Food is good. Breakfast is great. Service is great. Be aware that it is not in the city center. I liked the location. Quiet. A very short Tuk Tuk ride to city center. But I like to walk and I enjoyed the 20 minute walk each way.

United StatesI like a soft bed and this was a bit on the firm side for me
Its laid back atmosphere is in keeping with the spirit of Lao. The location on the river with a stunning view of the sunset over the mountains is truly rare. The staff are super warm and treat everyone like special family. Henry, the owner is warm, caring, and ready with either great ideas on what to do or to talk about anything. You will meet interesting fellow voyagers who are experiencing the special effects that Laos offers to someone ready to leave the trodden path. The old wood used to build the resort takes you on a trip back in time.

AustraliaThere’s nothing we didn’t like - so happy with our stay
Our stay was fabulous. The staff are like family from the moment of arrival - they’re thoughtful, kind, welcoming, accommodating & can’t do enough to make your stay perfect. Henry is the owner & he is amazing. He’s the most caring & kind man with a wealth of knowledge. He makes himself available to assist in any way possible. I was unwell (not due to food issues) & he went out of his way to ensure I had medical attention. Nothing was a problem for him. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation & would definitely stay there again.

United StatesOnly downside is the distance from town but as above it wasn't a big deal. They also have a shuttle to the airport/train.
Had a wonderful stay at On the Mekong and only wish I could have stayed longer. Henry the owner greeted me on arrival and made me feel very valued. He had lived in the region a long time and shared a ton of knowledge and interesting facts about Laos. He and the team have essentially created a living ng ethnographic museum were you get to stay in a traditional Laotian house. While the location is a bit further from town, the have a shuttle and will take you into the town centre anytime you ask. It only costs $3 to return in a tuk tuk or Grab. The property is set up for longer stays with a full size fridge in the room Added bonus they are building a pool so definitely check in on that in a few months! My pictures are of their garden and the restaurant area not the lobby.

NetherlandsGreat resort within the Laotian nature with a wonderful view on the river and the best place in Luang Prabang to watch the sunset. Wish I could stay longer here, but I have a flight to catch. Also met the owner, amazing nice guy who gave me some good tips and recommendations. Finally I would like to thank Moi who gave me a very warm welcome, a tour on the resort and arranged a rental motorbike and my transportation to the airport. Thank you to India and Ni as well. The breakfast includes a variety of options and you can enjoy it with the riverview. When I come back to Luang Prabang I would definitely stay here again.
