How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

No complaints really!
We had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view of the town and mountains. I had been worried it might be noisy as I'd seen lots of party pictures of young tourists, so I'd requested to be on the top floor. I don't think it was noisy anyway but I appreciated that they took notice of my request! Location is good, we were there for a short time only and had a lot of questions about what to do/see, we needed to book train tickets and rent a moto, the staff were very accommodating and gave helpful advice. We were tempted to go and get the train tickets ourselves, but ultimately the hostel service saved us time and allowed us to make the most of our stay in Vang Vieng.

The room price was really cheap compared to the surrounding places we checked out around, however the included breakfast was great. We got hot water wi-fi and the room was quite spacious for two people. , We felt comfortable staying here with the help of the staff, Even though they don't speak quite a lot of English but everything are fine

It's quite okay. Quiet, not noisy, prices are really cheap right now. There's free breakfast, the staff doesn't speak too much English but there's a lot of helpfulness from him

Old and in need of repair. however staff and hosts keep it clean multiple times a day
I don't understand why some people criticize it. After moving from a shabby hotel costing 500.000Kip per night, this place is completely cheap w 90.000Kip nd includes breakfast. should correctly evaluate the amount paid.

Our room always had a little detergent smell which was hard to get rid of. We had a room on the 4th floor, so had to take a lot of steps each time.
We arrived late in the evening via a van from Luang Prabang (from the bus stop it was a walking distance to reach the hostel) and was able to check-in without a problem. The location is perfect, in main area of the city with many nice restaurants and supermarkets nearby. And it is easy to get a taxi to other places. The staff was always helpful and very kind. The breakfast was super nice to have (although note, its next to the entrance not at the top floor as it was written on a paper in our room) The room was okay, expect nothing fancy but was enough to have a good sleep. The ceiling had a cute cloud like painting. For a budget its absolute the best. Would definitely come again.

It was quieter than Hostel Freedom 2 but it's no exaggeration to say that the front desk girl was really helpful. Breakfast was also very delicious. Room rates are cheaper than sister hostel

Everything. Really nice staff who gave me good recommendations for exploring the area, good breakfast in the morning, very good location. And the best thing: very clean bathroom and rooms, which can be tricky in Laos. Good job!

Great place. atmosphere of relaxation. breakfast is super great with many options. Comfortable bed, staff especially manager Kim are super helpful and English is very good. The remaining few have little English but are very kind

Not the most social hostel but the sister hostel is more social and you can go there whenever you like - not necessarily a bad thing if it's not what you're looking for. They don't use the rooftop bar anymore which seems a shame.
Clean common area and private room. Very helpful and polite staff - helped us book tipsy tubing and our train ticket. Good sized breakfast with five different options. Fab location. Family run. Swimming pool at sister hostel is really nice.

I liked everything.
Staff was very friendly and helpful with any question or request I had. For any need you might have I would suggest you try to talk to the main female staff as her english level is better, but the other staff will try very hard to help you anyways. Although they might need to use a translation app. The location was great too, close to the main restaurants area and night market. They have a second hostel near by with a swimming pool that you are allow to use as they belong to the same family.
