Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaThe entire property is extremely stuffy and had a weird smell as no proper ventilation. Property requires quite some walking on the way. There are a series of steps on the way to the property keep in mind if youre bringing luggage. Breakfast is extremely minimal with just toast and coffee. Quiet a bit of a commute to Tokyo center. Bathroom and toilets are shared and outside.
Decent room options with 3 beds in a room. Common space was good. Staff is welcoming

CanadaThe rooms could use a fresh coat of paint, and maybe a lamp or something to make it easier to turn off the light at night! Breakfast was only toast and tea and coffee and a soup broth.
There is a really positive vibe at and around the hotel. The place feels well cared for. Staff was always helpful and friendly.

CanadaShared washrooms weren’t clean. But that’s mostly because of the other guests. Showers would have hair on floor and sink area always had water on the floor. Free breakfast is very minimal, toast with jam/butter, coffee, tea and soup. However there is a lawson right around the corner and other combinis on the way to both nearby train stations so you can get breakfast there before starting your day.
Good value for what you pay. Nice little shopping street nearby (but most of the businesses close early around 6pm - 8pm). Easily accessible via train, however if you plan to go to Shibuya or Shinjuku often, it’s about 30 mins by subway. Room was clean and staff were friendly/helpful. They speak English, but recommend speaking slowly and clearly since I saw some other guests giving staff a hard time due to a miscommunication. Room is also surprisingly large because of the bunk beds and you can easily have 2 medium to large luggage open on the floor and still walk around.

Is a nice place to spend 2 nights. The place itself was nice and the people were friendly. I had a private bedroom with its own bathroom. I liked the convenience but the cleaning was awful. It was strange to me that the shared bathrooms were cleaner than the private one. The nearest station is 10 min away.

CanadaThe is a bit of strong odor smell in the washrooms.
The facility is located right in the Yanaka Ginza district. Yanaka is a residential and low-key commercial district where many locals live, and old shops and buildings gather. It’s the most lively part of the district where visitors can feel the true vibes of local activities. Stayed for 6 nights, the dorm room is basic yet spacious. The kitchen/common room is spacious as well. It is very convenient to be able to purchase the Tokyo Metro Day Pass here.

CanadaThe breakfast was lacklustre, just bread, jam, coffee and soup. The jams and the white bread were not tasty either.
The room was nice and clean, as mentioned. The shared bathroom was nice. Shower facilities were fantastic. Location was good. 11-minute walk to Nippori station. A Lawson was just around the corner.

Hong KongThe room was big enough and clean but there was a smell (from the seemingly new carpet?) that was really unpleasant and would not go away. Light situation in the room was also not ideal.
Staff was super friendly and the shared rooms were clean and inviting. Location perfect to explore Tokyo from a beautiful neighborhood.

New ZealandNothing - but I just wanted to add a couple of notes after reading other reviews that the bathroom was cleaned daily. Whilst there were unisex bathrooms there is a female only bathroom on the 5th floor. This information is provided when you check in.
Central location between two stations. Close to convenience store and 24 hour cafe. Daily market was also close by. Reception was always available, and was very helpful. Room was big enough for all of us. Daily breakfast, soup, tea and coffee was also provided.

My room was simple Tatami room. Very comfortable to sleep. Location was nice. Nearby hotel, there were enough places to buy food or to eat. There was a Sento(public bath) not too far from the hotel, so I could go there and relax. Staffs were very friendly and helpful.

SingaporeRoom was quite clean though it could be better. The hotel itself was pretty good, however during my stay there was a group of particularly rowdy tenants who continued to make noise even past 12 midnight. The bathroom is shared, and unfortunately some lady washed her hair in the sink. Not only did it leave a lot of strands on the sink since she didn't bother to clean up after herself (which looked appallingly disgusting), it made the floor wet and I almost slipped and fell. Depending on your luck you may or may not encounter such inconsiderate occupants, so take note.
Excellent location to and fro Narita Airport because of its proximity to the Keisei Line (via Nippori Station).
