Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United StatesI didn’t get the room I booked. They switched me the next morning to a different room that still wasn’t the correct room. I was informed that day there were no available rooms for “room type” I booked. This was an impact on my stay because we were celebrating my husband’s birthday and I wanted the room that was booked.

CanadaNo dinner buffet. Elevators were not always working - only one worked the whole time in our building. They don’t advertise kids menus - sometimes like pulling teeth.
We had the butler service (Paul) and he was amazing. The restaurants were good. The breakfast and lunch buffet were awesome. No dinner buffet. The cabana service that was extra is a bit pricey but worth it for at least a couple of days.

United StatesThe beach umbrellas and chairs were very hard to find empty,they were always reserved with towels all day that people put to reserve them and they finally didn't show up or they were coming for couple hours only. The internet was not so good at all times. The spa prices were overpriced!

CanadaThe desserts were average but we didn’t come to Jamaica expecting a fine dining experience so it was a very minor point whereas as a whole the food we rated as good to very good. The Asian restaurant was probably our favourite restaurant followed by the steakhouse and Waves (international).
Spacious rooms and the friendly staff really made the difference for us. We were well looked after by Neo and Paul and Claude at the watersports team. But every experience we had with the bar staff and the staff in the restaurants was felt warm and genuine. We were a little concerned by several negative reviews but we can only imagine they were one-offs or just difficult guests. To dispel some myths, pool temperatures were perfect and we stayed in the water for at least an hour at a time without feeling cold. Also beach was fine … a little bit of seaweed in places but easily avoided so we split our time between the beach and the pools. Room was very clean and everything was working during our stay (no blackouts or elevators not working so again don’t get overly anxious around the negative reviews from people who only experience first world problems).

United StatesThe beach itself was a bit small as was the swimming area, you might consider wearing water shoes as Sea Urchin are present in the seaweed. The water itself was clear and inviting. If you book excursions thru the resort be aware that when they say it is 30-35 minutes away it means more like an 1.5-2 hour ride. Making most if not all excursions a full day, rather than a true half day.
We very much enjoyed out time at the Jewel Grande. We stayed in the Sentry building, the newest of the 3 towers. The rooms were nice, well kept and clean. The food on property was good, the best bite is the Jerk Chicken grilled daily on the beach. The grounds were well kept and neat.

Location and staff and food were great. Shower in room leaked all week and was never fixed (after telling the front desk about the issue 4 times). Also, was forced to pay $1,500 at check in because booking.com messed up our reservation and only charged for 2 adults instead of 2 adults and 2 kids (even though we booked a package with flights and room together).

United StatesNo ATM on site, because Hotel is only accessible by highway, one is dependent on taxi services which tend to manipulate their rates, despite being posted on a sandwich board outside the main lobby, we were charged more than the posted rates.
