How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It is a complete self service hotel, just be aware you will not find a member of staff there. The hotel is comfortable, great location and good value for money however if you need any assistance you’re on your own.

Hard to find parking Wasn't informed that there are two different entry door for the hotel. We've been trying so many times to get into the hotel using the code they sent us. It was windy and cold, until a guest came out of the bldg and let us in. We were assigned to room 507, keyed in the code for the room and another guest was in the same room. We're so embarrassed. We didn't receive any emails or notice that they moved us to a different room. Have to call and inform them of what happened with the room switchings. This could've been handled so much better with good communication.

The music from the bar downstairs was very loud on Saturday night (but it stopped at midnight).
Very comfy bed and an amazing location right in the heart of the Reykjavik action! Nespresso coffee machine and a fridge in room. No staff in the hotel but they are very responsive and helpful in messages.

It was a little small but I got what I was promised.
I was good for the money. The shower was amazing. The view and the walk to the water was great. So many place to eat right outside your door.

Absolutely fantastic location... located in heart of town on a walking street . So many things in walking distance . Request a room on the higher floors as there is a bar downstairs with live music. Would stay again

A lot of noise because of the clubs that are literally downstairs. Also the night that we stayed the alarm from the restaurant went on three-four times, impossible to sleep!
The view was amazing and the staff was really friendly and kind!

The lift is a bit small
The location was perfect 4 minute walk to bus stop #6 where most of the tours this was our pick up point , we had booked a twin room and for a free upgrade to a studio with a balcony room was great with amazing views, check in and out is grand was a bit worried but all went well and is very easy got messages prior to my arrival with all the details we needed

Info to improve the experience only - it is NOT a grievance :-) 1. It wasn't clear how to replenish the coffee & consumables - so we just bought our own (which was inconvenient). 2. Breakfast was rather expensive for the light breakfast we wanted, although others may have found the all-you-can-eat experience to be good value. However there didn't seem to be any light breakfast options, so we ate out, which was a good way to start exploring. 3. Uncertainty about late arrival & check-in as were were arriving after midnight. (it wasn't clear in advance that 24hr arrival & check-in was possible with the entry code that was sent later - although the codes were incomplete first time). Making this facility more obvious on the website & confirmation email would have saved some anxiety.
Good location. Great view - with balcony (probably only applies to the 5th floor). Comfortable. Good (Nespresso) coffee maker.

My wife small perfume got stolen after first night. The only people who could potentially entered the room while we weren’t there and that we knew it was scheduled it could possibly be the personnel authorized to replace the batteries on the door lock after we had some issues entering the room and needed to call, not sure if more people had access but perfume was lost right after that incident on first day.

There is no parking, but you can find places not too far away from the hotel.
The hotel is really in the city centre. Clean and comfortable.

There is no free parking at the hotel, although you can park for free about 10 minutes away next to the church.
The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Reykjavik ! It was also close to bakeries, supermarkets and plenty of restaurants. The room was clean and well equipped
