How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Beds aren't so comfortable.
Hostel is really clean that feels at your apartment. Also personal is helpful. Hostel place so calm and peacefull by the way :)

All was very good
It was very nice experience to stay at Paradise Cave Hostel. You could feel you very welcomed and the staff was very kind. We enjoyed the breakfast too.

I have nothing bad to say, it was amazing, honestly great work, I also loved the breakfast it was very nice, keep doing awesome!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the view was amazing and our stay was extremely leisurely, couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Maybe the only-only thing I can mention here is the lack of table+chairs in the room to eat privately and be able to store some stuff on the table, but we managed well without it too!
Paradise Cave Hostel really does it better than most hotels! You have every ameneties, couple of bathrooms/toilets, spacious kitchen for comfort, and! You get to experience that comfy, homely, social atmosphere the place and the staff is spreading! I really can just tell wonders about everyone working there, so friendly, helpful, awesome staff! Everything went butter-smoothly, we had a fantastic time there. Breakfast was more than expected, perfectly enough to start the day. And the legends are real, the lamb soup is a must try in the evening, they perfected it! :) Thank you for the experience!

Good simple breakfast, fantastic location right above the waterfall. The hostel is based in ex boarding school with makes it special.

We received a very warm welcome. The location was excellent for what we needed. Beautiful waterfall just outside the door. The room was spacious, super clean with a comfortable bed. Everything was spotless and we can truly recommend this place.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in- really is like a little paradise. Great food and friendly staff! Beds were comfy and placed the best they could be for privacy, you get your own socket and shelf :) Food is amazing and a very good price for Iceland!

Own bathrooms would be nice but its a guesthouse so i am not disappointed.
Staff was super friendly, shared kitchen for guests to use, comfy Atmosphäre, bathrooms and toilets were shared but plenty and clean enough

We came soaking wet from visiting waterfalls and beaches the whole day (it was freezing out) and we arrived 30mins before check-in time. We were not allowed to enter even the common room to get warm since the place was ''not ready yet'', so we had to wait in the car. Only bad experience, which I guess is due to the fact that the guys running it act as cleaners, cooks and hosts (so a bit understaffed), otherwise super cool people.
Breathtaking views all around the hostel. Within the place is super clean and cozy. Not for a second did we feel we were in a hostel (we had private rooms with bathroom on the floor). I would highly recommend!

The hostel stays in a good location close to some must see spots of Iceland. It is warm and comfortable. The host does some dishes for dinner for guests (paid). The shared room was comfortable and warm.

It’s a hostel and you have to expect in advance that you don’t have everything available as in hotel.

We had to share toilet and bathrooms. But can’t be help.. this was the best accommodation near the famous Seljalandsfoss, at the best price, with Free BF 😅
The host was friendly and welcoming Rooms were very clean Breakfast was included and superb!!
