Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very strange.

Czech RepublicEverything great.
A place with a fantastic view of the fjyord. A very nice landlady. beautiful horses. Super clean. The kitchen very well equipped. 10 km to Arkanes, 30km ro Borgarnes, 1hour to Reykjavik. The underwater tunnel is free of charge now. The road above the farm is busy but turns totally quiet at night. Do not worry.

SingaporeThe room was a little cold for us. Light proofing wasn't the best so remember to bring your own eye masks for sleeping during summer.
The guest area (1st floor) was huge. The owner was thoughtful to prepare some items in the fridge for us to make a simple breakfast the next morning. It had most of the items we needed to have a comfortable stay. We were also welcomed by a friendly dog! Keep to the rules and you'll be fine.

SwitzerlandIt is quite a remote location - Iceland is safe, but I guess a lock/key on the internal bedroom/apt door would be nice to have. Not necessary, just beneficial!
Great land lady, very helpful and friendly. Room was large and location very nice, not too far from Reykjavík for a last stop over before flying out of Iceland. Property has also an incredibly friendly small dog greeting you when you come and amazing horses on site that you can pet.

United KingdomThere was no curtains against the windows. At this time of year in Iceland you have over 20 hours of light. I did get to sleep, although the plus point was that I got a great view from my room. I was the only one there. Breakfast could have been better, had an egg, a roll and a bananna, along with some juice if needed, honey and marmalade. I suppose for the price it wasn't that bad. The place could have been better located, although again in fairness my satnav did get me there, in the end. I didn't see the sign.
Location was beautiful. Only me booked there at the time. Very quiet unless you don't like gulls. Ponies for riding if need be. Got a great view from my room. Did get a little breakfast to get me on my way.

CanadaPlace is a bit dated. Shower pressure and volume was very low. Not used to having to do all the cleaning before leaving but my fault for not reading the rules before booking.
Nice quiet place on the country side (it's by the highway but we didn't hear anything). Very friendly host and the most friendly happy dog!!

FranceThe curtains are not completely light proof, bring a mask if you are visiting during summer and are sensible to light when sleeping
Great location and view for this apartment situated on the ground floor of a house. The view is really amazing. Our host was really nice, and her cute dog welcomed us as soon as we got off the car ! This was a very convenient location for a one night stop from the Golden Circle to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The apartment is very spacious and can fit more than 4 people (we were only 2 but enjoyed having our beds plus a sofa from where we could enjoy the view). There is also a kitchen for breakfast or if you need to cook basic things.

BelgiumVery spacious room with kitchen making a stay of multiple days a breeze. The owner warned us about an income snow storm and provided some guidelines to keep my rental car safe. The rooms provide a nice view on the waterside and with the correct conditions, you could probably spot the northern lights from inside. Will certainly come back when visiting Iceland in summertime.

NetherlandsThe kitchen and bathroom are well equipped and were probably modern in the sixties. Everything works but don't plan any big cooking or a spa experience ;).
You are on a farm with a panoramic view over the Hvalfjörður. The apartment is on the ground floor. The host is very kind, she lives on the first floor. Her dog and horses complete a true Icelandic experience. One bedroom with queen size bed, 3 beds were in the (big) living room but separated by wardrobes from the sitting area. It feels very warm and pleasant. We had a true winter storm during our stay. This gave us a spectacular view over the fjord from a warm and well isolated living room. Thank you Ragnheidur!

AustraliaThe only negative thing was that the apartment was quite cold even with all the heaters set to maximum. The radiators are small and few to heat a large space. In summer it would not be a problem though.
Beautiful location, easy check-in, very quiet and well priced. The apartment is spacious and could definitely accommodate larger groups. The living room is divided up with screens and has a few spare beds. The kitchen is adequate for basic cooking, and it's an easy 10 minute drive to Akranes for access to restaurants and shops. We'd definitely stay here again :)

United StatesThis is really hard to find in the dark in the rain. The bathroom (and bathrooms in all guesthouses in Iceland) could use more flat surfaces for toiletries bags and more hooks on the walls for clothes and towels. The shower was kind of jerry-rigged, so it got the floor kind of wet, which is why more hooks to hang up things would be a good thing.
It was in a beautiful place, with mountain behind and ocean in front, though we got in late and left early, so barely got to see how lovely the setting was. A horse watched us in the morning from a respectful distance. Full kitchen available to use.
