How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No hob or oven, but completely understand why there wasn't any.
Absolutely loved this place! Our favourite stay in Iceland! - clear views of the mountains and sheep and horses roaming free in front of the property. Clear check in instructions sent ahead of time. Lovely room and decor. Clean, spacious and homely. Loved the addition of blankets for nothern lights watching! Coffee machine (and pods), mini dishwasher, microwave, fridge (with yoghurts) and basic kitchen equipment, enough to prepare a small meal.

This little cottage was very well located for our needs and it was so nice and clean. We could use some appliances for a simple dinner and breakfast and the view was breathtaking. I would definitely come back to stay here

Beautiful house, like small apartment, much better than any classic hotel rooms ! Beautiful, comfortable, new and clean. And that view .... just amazing ! We are on our road trip around Iceland and this is absolutely the best place we stay ! I higly recommend this. 🗻🇮🇸💙

No sink in the kitchen. We didn't manage to get Netflix on the TV and all the instructions were in icelandic. If you leave the window open, millions of flies will get inside.
Self check-in, easy to find. Beautiful luxury cabin with lots of privacy, with a stunning view, clean and well designed. We didn't wanna leave! The cows nearby were really cute also :) Great value for money! Would love to come back!

No proper sink, the sink in the toilet was too small to even wash a water bottle. We killed 6 houseflies when we checked in.
Room was clean, tidy, big, location was good. There was even a ceiling fan, which was good as most rooms in Iceland do not come with air conditioning and we couldn't open the windows as houseflies were flying around . We even saw the northern lights from here! There was even a dishwasher!

The location was lovely, a great view, quiet. The little hut was nothing short of amazing. It was comfortable and clean! Glad we picked this spot for a night on our honeymoon trip!

It was cloudy and couldn't see the northern lights, Our GPS took us to the farm down the road a house or two.

A little out of the way but that is to be expected if you want to get a great view.
Great views. Spacious room relatively. Very clean. If there clear skies, it would a great place for northern lights.

An individual good sized cabin in a quiet setting with beautiful views of the mountains and countryside. There is no kitchen sink but there is a dish-washer. Otherwise well equipped and perfectly clean with a comfortable bed.

The only thing I didn't like is that the hair dryer must be broken and only blows cold air, so I washed my hair, which was quite long, and I had to spend an hour to dry it properly. It would be nice to have a common area with a washer-dryer for all the cottages.
I liked everything. A beautiful landscape, a very pleasant tranquility, having coffee every day with the cows grazing in front of my cottage... And about the interior, cozy, very comfortable bed, great temperature, bathroom all correct, kitchen, no stove but has a microwave and sandwich maker that you can use to heat various things. Everything is wonderful.

Amazing place, beautiful views of the mountains, river, ocean, cows... just everything :) You can sit on the terrace and admire this beautiful panorama. House is really cozy and clean, please note that there is no equipment to cook a big meal, jus sandwicher, toaster and microwave - it was not an issue for us. I would go back!

There were quite a few flies in the apartment. I guess this is a feature of the area, but maybe could have been prevented with screens.
This room has a lovely view at the sunset in a very quiet location. Shower is great and even had a was cloth. Everything was provided.
