We booked only one hour before arrival the staff were helpful but its best to check that the room is prepared We where booked into a room that hadn't been cleaned, probably a genuine mistake, but all that was offered or a change to another room or a refund I was a little disappointed that the manager didn't extend to a discount on the meal or something I would then be giving 9 out of 10, but I have stayed at this accommodation before with no problem probably a one-off

It's not as much as resort as I would think. There is a hot tub (option of cold plunge in little lake) and sauna, and that's about it. It was self check in which nobody communicated with us and as we followed the information from Booking we thought we had to check in between 4-6. As we arrived, there was a note on the door about check in. I would love to know this earlier as we wouldn't not had to rush as much. There was TV in our cabin, but didn't have any channels, so there was no use for us. No hairdryer available, which I think should be a standard in these cabins. There was an option to borrow it at reception however that had limited opening hours.

As there were only three other guests, we got upgraded to our own little cabin, that was really nice. The cabin was lovely, spacious and clean, the kitchen was nice and had all we needed, also dishwasher. In the bathroom there was also washing machine which we didn't use, however if you intend to, bring a washing machine powder. We loved the hot tub, there were changing rooms next to it, you have to bring your own towel. Lake next to it can be used as cold plunge - the only problem is getting in and out, maybe steps would be a good idea. Overall very nice stay and recommend staying.

Everything is perfect. Spacious room. Comfortable living area and sofa. We stayed in a two bed room apartment and with heated floor, it felt so great standing on top of it with hiking boots off. :) I would say this is a prime spot to watch Northern light. Not only there is not much light pollution around. there is nothing in front or behind the flat, which is particularly true for the two bed rooms with mountain view. The BEST part is the flat is facing north south, that means you can watch the Northern light from the room or your bed however long you want it. I know northern light is cool and all that but how many of you can stand in the below -10c for hours? You don't have to do that from lava resort :) See my attached picture.

We stayed at the Molakot (1 bd apartment) with 2 small kids. The apartment was very spacious and had everything you need - refrigerator, kettle, toaster, kitchen supplies and a lot more. The shower was spacious and clean. The bedroom is a great size and the beds were comfortable. The restaurant is in the main hall. The host was very helpful and accommodating. it is a family-ran business and everyone is very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good and has a lot of options. The dinner menu is limited BUT they had great options. I had the butterfried ling cod and it was so good. The chef makes everything fresh. The property is a short 1.5 drive from Reykjavic. We saw the northern lights both nights we stayed there even though it was a bit cloudy. I highly recommend this place and thank you to everyone who made our stay special!

There are a few details noteworthy: 1. The hairdryer is not in the room... We must pick it in the reception. It is not very convenient when it is not always opened, or when it is around - 4°C outside (the reception is in a building distant from the apartments). 2. In any place (in the Booking.com, or in the Lava Resort website) is written that the hot tub/sauna are facilities with an extra fee... It would be fair to have more clear information about the facilities and its costs on-line. 3. Pay attention: the exhaust fan is on glass, too wide and fixed around 1.65-1.70m height... We (different persons) accidentally hit the forehead on it just approaching the counter. 4. The Wi-Fi doesn't work well.

The localization is excellent . The aurora borealis there was magical. The house is very comfortable. The staff is very nice. We can go in the stables and meet the sheeps and horses of the farm with no intermediates!

It was just by chance, by writing to the property for a restaurant booking, that I got to know that their restaurant was closed. Thankfully we stocked up on food before arriving as the closest supermarket was more than 50km away. It would have been appreciated to be notified by the property beforehand so to make arrangements since the hotel is quite far off from any other facilities.

The apartments were very comfortable, welcoming, nicely furnished and spacious. We had a great two day stay there.

The fact that the reception area, bar etc was all closed. I understand the time of year. I must say that when I called, the owner replied straightaway and provided assistance.

I would have appreciated some coffee filters. I counted on a Nespresso machine which would have been much easier to cater for. There is a washing machine in the bathroom. I would have also appreciated some detergent... Wind came in through the closed bedroom windows and it felt really chilly.

Lovely property. Our cabin had a great view and we enjoyed the sheep grazing just some meters away. Ample, clean, luminous. The dining area where you need to book to have breakfast or dinner is a barn that has been spruced up and is gorgeous. I would have liked to dine there but we never managed to arrange it due to sightseeing.
