Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe rooms didn’t match the feel of the lobby area, although they were very clean and comfortable. Had a kind of dormitory feel.
Wonderful atmosphere in the lobby area with a restaurant and bar. Staff was wonderful to me but abrasive to my companion.

AustriaI was not told about the availability of a bus shuttle between Ísafjörður airport and hotel. Hence, I had to take an expensive taxi instead... When you arrive at the airport, see the (white) minibus waiting at the arrival gate. It will bring you to any location in twon of Ísafjörður.
Best place in town.

AustraliaThe photos on booking.com didn't match what we saw in reality. Old looking outside, crumbling infrastructure.
Breakfast was extensive and well presented. You could even have a shot of cod liver oil. Only stayed one night.

United StatesRoom was small but OK for our 2-night stay. Carpet in hallway outside our 5th floor room was stained in numerous places.
Location in center of town was great, close walking distance to everything. Breakfast and dinner served in the hotel restaurant were very good. Nightly price was reasonable for Iceland. Close free parking lot served us well for trips outside of town. Shower was fully enclosed to prevent spraying of water into rest of bathroom, something we found lacking in some other places we stayed on our Iceland trip.

PolandBasic breakfasts. Hallway on 5th floor needs to be modernized dramatically. Reception combined with the bar is a weird idea. You check in or check out in front of all guests eating/drinking at the restaurant. Bizzare.
Large, clean room (deluxe). Comfortable beds. Complementary wine (deluxe room). Nice and professional staff at the reception.

United StatesThe elevator gets a little busy, but not much to be done about that. I was glad we were only on the third floor as we took the stairs most trips. Our gps didn’t take us to the hotel, but being a small town, we found it no problem.
The breakfast was excellent and nice to be included with good hours and selection. We both were able to have something we liked. First time I ever saw Cod Liver Oil on a breakfast buffet. I don’t have breakfast where I am now and missing it.

AustraliaThere was a dank smell coming from the bathroom that permeated the room. Once you were in there for a while you didin’t notice it. However, our friend’s room that was on the same floor was not smelly so I think it was a problem with the room not the Hotel generally.
The view and the room were fine as expected. The location was downtown walking to everything.

United StatesOlder building that has been updated, nice restaurant with a modern ambiance and view of the harbor. We had a large comfortable room with a spacious private bath on the top floor, overlooking the city. This is your best hotel option for a comfortable stay in Ísafjörður! Highly recommended!

AustraliaWe discovered that, while the bedding appeared clean/devoid of the presence of hair (which we had been finding in other accommodation), the bin in the bathroom was full. This raised all sorts of questions. Requests for another room, where the evidence of a full cleaning job may have been present, were declined because the hotel was full. We were given repeated assurances that the rest of the room had been carefully cleaned and was ready for us. With no options, we had to accept the assurances. Although one should not judge accommodation by the habits of the guests, it was starkly evident that many of the guests attending breakfast the next morning had forgotten everything about COVID and considerate and hygienic practices. Sneezing or coughing into one’s hand and then using the same hand to operate the coffee machine or help oneself to more breakfast are unpleasant to observe once much less repeatedly. This is the classic downfall of the buffet breakfast concept, which is found frequently in Iceland hotels. These practices meant our stay in the breakfast room was short and, since it did not appear that one could order a cooked breakfast, we left hungry.
We arrived at Isafjordur after a very long drive from Hvammstangi. Over four hours in the car. We wanted a swift and smooth check-in and a quiet uncomplicated stay. The check-in was smooth, although it is weird to have the reception desk in the middle of the restaurant/bar. You feel a bit out of place bringing all your luggage from the car into a dining space. Our room was on the third floor, 307 if we recall correctly. The room itself was compact and we had to shuffle the furniture around a bit in order to create space for our hard suitcases and carry-on bags. The view from the room was of the foreshore, which was pleasant. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, although small, did have a fully enclosed shower. The room had enough space for a desk although we had to wrangle two chairs together at the desk to have our take away dinner. The chair coverings, however, were stained. The hotel itself is very conveniently located, being a short walk to restaurants, the visitor centre and the foreshore. We would probably stay here again.
