Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt was a pity the shower on our floor wasn't working but then the trip to the basement was easy and the area wasn't busy. The rooms slope so it was hard to move around the bed on one side without bumping your head.
There was a great chef on site. The fish stew for lunch was great! The night dinner was exceptional. The walks around the island were great and we saw some fishermen preparing cod. The sunset was exceptional ! All the staff were very professional and helpful.

SwedenThere was nothing really negative I could say about this place, we would return again.
Flatey Island is one of those places you visit once in a lifetime, if you're lucky. We had the opportunity to visit and we're not dissappointed. The only hotel on the island has a beautiful old world charm to it and the decorating is fitting- as you feel somewhat you are back in time many decades. Upon arriving to the Island hotel staff will greet you to give you directions or even a ride to the hotel (it is about a 10-15 min walk from where the ferry docks). The hallways and rooms are nicely decorated and upkept. The staff called us earlier the same day before our arrival to confirm the number in our party and to be sure they could accommodate our needs. They were very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. We enjoyed a nice dinner in the restaurant and the included breakfast the next morning exceeded our expectations.

United StatesThe single room was TINY with barely room for bed and small table, much smaller than any single I have stayed in. Tiny window but couldn’t really see out unless I was sitting on the floor. I wouldn’t have minded except that there is no sitting area in the hotel other than the dining room our outside on terrace. Temperatures were pretty cool so not conducive for long time spent sitting outdoors. I would love to return sometime but would request a double room if I was traveling solo to have more space. But overall an incredible island and the birdwatching was excellent.
Amazing location on the water on Flatey Island. Sweet building with nice views, incredible food and courteous staff.

United KingdomPretty pricey but then everything has to come in by ferry.
The hotel is wonderful on this nature paradise island. You won’t have city amenities but the rooms are light and airy and the location is the big seller here, as you’re surrounded by fearless birds and country living Icelanders. A real retreat. The meals produced by the chef would not be out of place in a top notch city centre high class restaurant

GermanyThe beds were too soft, our sleep wasn't very relaxing. Didn't enjoy the beds. The communication with the hotel and the Ferry ppl about the ferry transportation in May - pre season!! - consumed a lot of our prep time. We would suggest to hotel and ferry Baldur ppl to sit together and produce a flyer together to send out to anyone interested in a stay about `how to best arrive & depart on Flatey´.
Passengers can travel to this remote island of Flatey from North (Brjans) and South (Stykkis) by ferry. Cars will be parked according to your decision on either side (mainland) during you rest and enjoy Flatey Island. As Snaefallsnes in the South is generally rather costly and the Westfjords are not yet, the pricing found on Flatey is rather Snaefellsnes + special place price scale. For us, esp. as the Hotel had only us and another couple staying, the booking turned out to be relatively overpriced. During our stay we have been blessed with sunshine. Food was good, dinner was deliciously prepared. Thanks to the Chef.
