Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Easy to find. Helpful receptionist. Excellent shower. Very small room (but I knew that and it was a single room). Comfortable bed. Parking just across the road. Good kettle; did not try the TV.

United KingdomBasic hotel. Our lockbox didn’t work to obtain one key. I was able to have communication with the hotel very quickly via a contact number and we were allocated another room. This turned out to be a better room. True as my friend was in a small basic room. The location was easy to find in the village. The basic room had two beds and two basic dining room chairs, and a small shower with basin and toilet. It would be small for two people. But my friend was in there on her own. The newly allocated room we had was slightly bigger. Two seating chairs, even a tv, double bed and small en-suite. This room is okay for two people.

NetherlandsThe breakfast was the most basic I have ever encountered. Do not expect much in that regard if you stay here.
This 'hotel' is one of the few options we had to stay in the West Fjords. The room is small but comfortable and clean. Located nearby there is a very nice dining location nearby called "Café Riis" and a rather strange museum dedicated to "sorcery". for the rest Holmavik has very little to offer.

AustraliaThis minor criticism pretty much relates to all the accommodation we stayed in during or trip to Iceland. There seems to be no way to turn down (or off) the heating in the rooms. This is a problem when the weather is unseasonably warm.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Although the breakfast is basic, it was fresh and since we'd forgotten it was included, welcome.

United StatesThe twin beds were narrow (even for twin beds). The bathroom sink was way too small. There needs to be a mirror, end tables and shelves in the room (or at least hooks) to facilitate unpacking. The sign outside announcing the hotel desperately needs a paint job. This could be a really cute hotel and the location is great, but it does need some attention.
Kathy, the onsite manager, is very friendly and helpful. She checked us in, showed us our room, prepared breakfast the next day (she did an excellent job with that), and checked us out when it was time to leave. She has implemented some changes that has resulted in the property being a better stay for the guests. More needs to be done, but with someone like her helping out, it won't be long before this property goes from average to great! The hotel was clean.

SingaporeOur room decor is not like what’s shown on photos. No head rest, you bump your head occasionally. View towards neighbours. Dirty balcony. Location is not easy to find considering a very small handwritten sign.
The shower is strong and warm. Had a coffee machine in the room. Parking is easy.

AustraliaVery tired building exterior and interior; even the Finna Hotel name plate is badly faded. Has all the hallmarks of a cash cow (refer Boston Matrix). Breakfast lower end of the continental fare. Room very small and the bathroom is shoe box size. Room cost and additional charge for breakfast made this a very expensive stay compared to my other 18 nights elsewhere in Iceland.
Good reception on arrival. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Served its purpose for a one night stay in a remote location. We highly recommend Cafe Riis, the prime cut lamb steak is top quality and well presented; the pizzas are delicious - delightful place in a historic building.

IrelandNo lift, but I did know this beforehand, and my case was carried up for me, which I rearly appreciated. The stairs are quite steep, and while there is a bannister, it's not one you could grap if you tripped. Slow and steady!
The welcome offered. The view was lovely. Tea/coffee making facilities were very good. Breakfast was an option and was very nice.

United StatesThe building is a little old with some cracks in the walls. The bathroom smelled a tad mildew-y but seemed clean. Be aware the beds are narrow. I'm 5'6" and 145lbs and there was very little extra room. I almost rolled off a few times.
Had a corner room with a small balcony and beautiful views. The coffee and tea in the room was a lovely treat.
